Master window switch light

Hi -
I was cleaning the TL last night and I noticed that the master's driver windo control switch does not illuminate any lights... is this how it is supposed to be? I only ask since I think all the cars I've had in the past had some illumination in their window switch buttons... I mean even my 89 Celica has this feature...

Thanks!

Nope, they should all have lights on unless the window lock is on in which case it's just the drivers window that has a light.

Thanks for the info... I will try and wait a little longer until it gets dark to check it... maybe that it wasn't too dark when I checked it last time I was cleaning it...

HID Advice: Fix or Replace

After going over some of the HID threads, I just wanted to ask if it is even worth trying to open the ballast and clean up any gunk it might have just like the DIY thread in the fix section... My driver side headlight has started to show symptoms of failing as it requires me to turn on/off the switch to get it to power up, and the color on each side is noticeably different... and given that my safety inspection is due this month, I am not sure if it is even worth trying to fix/salvage it, or just buy a replacement aftermarket HID kit to use in the stock headlight housing... and if the latter is the case, what specific brand or webstore should I get the HIDs from? The price difference between the D2S kits that HIDextra and Retrofitsource is almost double... any advice is appreciated...

Thanks!

Do they have a pink look to them? That normally means the bulb is on the way out.

Its actually more like yellowish compared to a bluish-white on the passenger side... but the color seems to even out after the driver side has been on and gets warmer...

After 2 years, now what?

So, I've had the pleasure of owning the TL for two years now and I find the car really enjoyable...
Knock on wood, it hasn't really given me any issues at all after the AV6 swap except for needing to replace one Coil Pack...

This weekend, I am planning on doing some routine maintenance of doing an oil change and ATF drain and fill... I won't do the whole 3x3, just a single drain and fill...
I've also added a 50% tint all around, less the back windshield which is a pain to DIY...

not sure if upgrading to a Legend caliper is justifiable since I only drive the car no more than 30 miles everyday... but for sure, a new rotor will be installed when it is time for a brake job...

As for some aesthetic upgrades, what do you guys recommend? Don't get me wrong, I like the simple and elegant lines of the TL, but I was wondering what you guys would suggest if I do subtle "upgrades" in terms of cosmetics... Some ideas of mine are listed below, but please feel free to add any or specific things to what I have in mind:

1. Audio Upgrade - this will be a DIY for me... thinking of doing a custom trunk wall and keeping it as simple as possible keeping it stock looking... mostly SQ...
2. Rims (not sure what)
3. Coilover or springs/struts combo (not sure what brand)
4. OEM Bodykit (hoping to find some)
5. Projector retrofit
6. Muffler / header - but not really sure for what reason

I really just want a simple, clean car... need not to be a head turner, but I want it to look classy and not outdated... I definitely don't want it to look like an overkill...

Any thoughts???

Glad to hear that the TL is treating you well! I think the ideas you've got listed out already are very nice for your goals. I've been slowly doing some painting on my engine cover, and some interior trim pieces, so maybe that could be a possibility for you? Since mine is dark green, I've been slowly changing all the silver chrome to a nice gold.

Maybe LED interior lighting, including the dashboard?

Yeah... the LED conversion might be worth doing to brighten up the cabin at night... do you know by chance if the window buttons can be replaced too?

They can be if you're dedicated! I haven't touched mine yet but I'm sure it's simple. The only bulbs I've seen so car that weren't simply swap-out jobs were inside the radio console .

The switches pop out and you can replace the bulbs in them.

SuperGreg I know I'm two years late, but do you remember where you were going with this? I have this exact thing in my car,...
