in need of some wiring help for 6speed swap
i need someone who has either done the 2gen 6spd swap themselves or know someone that has and can get info for me or point in the right direction atleast
it is regarding the fuel gauge, it doesn't work and I remember reading somewhere when I was doing the swap that I needed to ground a wire for the fuel sending unit or something like that. im going on a trip in Oct and really want to get this finished up before I go lol any help would be great. please don't tell me to just buy the wiring diagram books either, I don't want to spend 80-100 on each book just for a few connections etc (one for cl and tl) I have some of the wiring diagrams that I can use just need the missing pieces filled in to get this gauge working again any help will be greatly appreciative |

The TL wiring will come up under the door sills and plug into the TL fuseboxes. Mostly everything will plug in, but there may be a couple slight differences. For example, my gas gauge wasn't working because the sensor wasn't getting ground, so I added that to the connector. Just a couple basic things like that.

So was the gas gauge issue resolved how Karanx7 indicated above or did you figure out a new innovative way, care to elaborate? :) |

https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/acurazi...0d2b80364f.jpg I've been cleaning up some wiring and remembered this post. The real problem with electronics not working after a true manual 6 speed swap is connector C551. It's just completely different from the 03 CL-S6 and the TL (99-01 and 02-03 are different too). I don't even remember if they plug into each other, but it's honestly better to leave them unplugged because literally zero of the wires match. The reason the gas gauge wont work is because on the 03 CL-S6, the fuel tank ground is pin 2 and the fuel gauge sender is pin 17. On the 02-03 TL, the fuel tank ground is 8, and the fuel gauge sender is pin 18. To get the gas gauge working, I removed these four pins, matched them up, and covered them with electrical tape (you could solder them too). A better solution would be to repin the entire connector. The reality is that everything listed on the diagram won't work unless you do this. No seat heaters, EVAP, memory seats, trunk opener, rear stereo. etc.. I'm posting this in case someone ever tries to do a true manual swap. Do the smarter thing, and pay an extra grand for the AEM EMS 2 so it's plug and play. |
