Yes, vtec works as it should no matter where it decided to redline. Oil level is good. I'm not real sure where the range switch is. But I don't think that's the issue due to the fact that it now will go to normal redline the first few mins of driving. I sent the op a message but haven't heard back. Is there one or 2 speed sensors? Only one I can find is on top of the Trans near the fill port.

No there are two speed sensors. Acura calls them pickup assemblies. The one you have not found is located at the same longitude as the one on the top but its on the side of the trans.

You might have better luck seeing it if you pull the driver wheel with the car jacked up.

The pickup assemblies are #15 in the picture.

Ok, I thought that might have been another one. I seen it the other day going over everything. This issue started after changing my starter. (put the old one back in as it wasn't the problem) it was the battery terminals. (separate issue that's been solved). I'm just wondering if one of them being bad could cause this issue? I have no other symptoms of a bad vss.

Sorry for the second post, but while searching the wiring the other day I noticed the t-stat ground wasn't connected.. But the car had been running fine without it I take it.. But it would have come out some how while I was working on it.. Idk. I didn't take it out. Lol but when I connected it the d5 light won't light. All others work fine. I unhooked it to see if it solved my issue and same thing. So I reconnected it.

Did the d5 light, light up properly when in gear before you had this problem? I would guess your bulb behind the light is blown as thats happened to my cars twice now. Its easy tocheck you just have to pull the instrument cluster.

It lit even after the issue started. Pulled the cluster yesterday and only seen one bulb to light the row. Maybe I have to go deeper in the cluster? Does each have its own bulb? I think it went out when I connected the ground back to the t stat. I'll Un hook it and see if it comes back on.

I'm gunna try and swap both vss sensors on the tranny this weekend. And possibly the range switch.. Could it be the ckp? It's just strange that now it will rev to 7k like it's supposed to until a few mins of driving and then it's back to 5500... This shit is driving me nuts..

It almost seems like when your not in closed loop mode its going all the way to red line. Then you hit closed loop, which just means your car is properly warmed up and the 02 sensors are reading, and you lose your red line.

Yes you have to take the cluster apart to get to the individual bulbs that light up each light for the drive selector.

Well, I just checked the codes again for the hell of it.. P0420 and P0430. I know the one has been there since I've had the car. (been to lazy to install the non foulers on the 2nd one) it's strange tho the d5 light went out when I connected the t stat ground. I'll Un hook it Friday and see if it comes back on. If so, what would be the reason?

I dont think its possible to be anything other than the bulb going bad. All your other bulbs work?

I suppose there could be a short to ground somewhere and you blew a fuse but then you would lose all the lights. Unless you blew the circuit that controls the flashing D5 light for giving trans codes.

Idk, I'll know more Fri when I can tear into a few things again. I did check for Trans codes with a scanner and there aren't any so lol I guess that's good. (separate question) I was just reading on here that the gasket on the intake manifold (top plate to clean egr paths) can be put on upside down.. What would that cause if that happend?

Ok, so.. It's not time related either drove the car 220 miles round trip somewhere and back and had no issues reving to 7k on demand at Highway speeds. Used gps and my speed is dead on to what the gps said. Now I'm really scratching my head at this.
