extremely soft shift

I turned off my car outside store nearby my home and before turned off, it made some slight clunking sound.
After 10 minutes later, I turned on the car and I feel, the shifting has become extremely soft between any gears stop to drive neutral backup. It is completely drivable but easiness of shifting worries me so much that it might slips into different car while I am driving.
Wth is this? I had the whole transmission just recently a year ago. Is this shit about to quit again?

clunking sound from where..trans???
Get back to the shop today and have them inspect,,before warranty expires

really smooth like slipping clutches easing it into gear?
do you lift or stay on the throttle? does that change it?

ckd fluid level -15 minutes warm freeway drive--between the dots
and its color and smell
miles since rebuild? changed fluid yet?

Clunking from the trans while driving just before you shut it off? Or you were parked and it made noise as you shut it off? A little more detail?

Hi guys. Nothing wrong during driving. But just one time when i stopped i night have turned off the ignition key too soon after shifting into P, it was very close almost same time and i believe it might some slight thhunking sound from tranny. Still driving is pkay but shifting into any gear became too easy slight push of a finger. Previously there used to be right amount some resistance when i switch into different gear. Anywaus new tranny installed last yr with 36k / 3 yr hope the acura corp crap will honor te warranty. Pleae let me know

are you manually shifting on the right side of shifter thru the gears??
or just when moving into D or P it feels different?

or using SS-left side of shifter and that feel has changed?

or the actual way the trans goes into each gear?

If you got it done at acura on a you partial pay/goodwill deal,,that came with 3/36
--if its a trans internal problem, they replace trans
If its a selenoid- they should cover it ,,, but you never know without reading the actual warranty!
if its a motor mount--thats on you

Thanks,

any ziners near you to swap cars with for test drive??
Or drop by the dealer and ask the SERVICE MANAGER if the head tech can go around the parking lot with you to make sure all is well

that 6 speed swap is a DIY project with a buddy, see thread --one of the first on main gen2 thread list or in the diy section
unless you have several thousand dollars sitting ready to pay them for labor at a shop

that diagnosis fee is their standard 1.5 hours -they get to charge even if they find prob in 15 minutes, THEN they still charge even more to fix it! what a scam

get the car on ramps or a lift at your techs place
Look for damage to the cable that operates from shifter to trans
A broken end or frayed cable?

Did you do anything weird- different driving style- drag raced it, got mental with the manual shifing, major pothole hits, let anyone else drive your car? not long before it changed?

a transmission shop is your best bet, they deal with this kind of stuff every day
and are not out to rip you off with huge diagnosis fee
they look at it...what does it need,, a bushing, a cable end, a new cable--
there are not too many parts involved in this operation!!
customer approves total repair estimate- pays for job without complaint and everyone is happy

go to the Regions link at top right of page
in there are areas broken into states, where ziners connect for car club meetups-bbq and friendship
there are many ziner members in the sunnyvale area- they used to do a weekly mini meet iirc
ck them out

were any of the reviews by TL owners?

are you looking for a diagnosis, then back to the dealer under warranty if its internal or otherwise covered?

hopefully its a simple plastic bushing needs replacement

going to local tranny shop very close to where i live, hopefully they can do a simple diagnosis with no fuss and wuss like dealers do. Based on their assessment, I guess I will do decide. I havent heard from anyone how good they are but on google map they all got 5-star rating.
