Confused about O2 Sensor - How many; how much
I have a 2003 3.2 TL. Autozone ran a test after my check engine came on. Came up as O2 sensor. Thought I might replace myself with the help of this wonderful forum but now I am confused. Autozone had the parts in stock and indicated there were two O2 sensors, one on each side of the cat converter. Price for both was $100 +/-. However, when I got on the forum this morning and did a search, posts seem to say there are actually 4 sensors. Going on Rock Auto the price for the two listed was $200+. Assuming I can figure out where they are and replace, do I need two or four and why the difference in the prices I find?
Thanks in advance.
Thanks in advance.

Interesting, I had always assumed my 2001 V6 Accord (same basic car as the 2G TL) had three O2 sensors; two upstream (one from each side of the engine), and one downstream. That said, I don't believe I've ever looked; nice to know.

When you buy your now O2 sensor, do not under any circumstances buy a Bosch sensor; they have a notoriously high failure rate. Instead, buy either an OEM Honda sensor or a Denso unit.

I had the same CEL not long ago so I ended up ordering both sensors since my car has 175k miles
Denso 234-4621 (for down stream)
https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B000C5YCUM?psc=1&ref=yo_pop_mb_pd_title
Denso 234-4727 Oxygen Sensor (for upstream)

The upstream one was a bitch to disconnect the plug from the top but it can be done. I think I used a 7/8" wrench to get them off. The downstream plug on the cat was pretty seized so I got it loose by tapping the wrench with a hammer. Apply the anti seize that comes with the plugs to the threads and your good to go, just make sure you only get the anti seize on the threads.

I'm not sure if Bosch makes bad sensors or if Honda's/Acura's just don't play nice with them. But they're notorious for failing or at the least, not working correctly in Honda products. Definitely OEM (which is a Denso anyways I think....). Some might think that would be a no brainer but I can nearly guarantee that if you go into an auto parts store, they'll likely pull up a Bosch when looking up the O2 sensor.

My CEL light would go off and come back on periodically as well. I figured there was a loose wire on one of the sensors but replaced them anyway. No CEL for the past couple of months since I replaced them.
