HELP: P1457 and P0122 but when engine is cold

OK this is the 2nd day in a row this has happened. Start car, let it warm up for a minute, pull out. Within 1/4 mile, CEL light is on and car will only shift if I put it in SS mode.

I drove a few miles, maybe 5 before I pull over, pull codes with ODB scanner and reset CEL.

After that the car runs great. Don't have problems the entire rest of the day.

It obviously has something to do with the cold weather start.

Anybody experience this or have any ideas? I've tightened the gas cap, always fill up with super...

BTW, P1457 is the evap cannister and I believe P0122 is the throttle position sensor.

BTW this is the first bit of cold weather my car has experienced since I installed my TypeS throttle body and thermoblok spacers.

I think I might reinstall the coolant lines into the throttle body. Maybe my TB is just too cold in the morning. The throttle position sensor is attached to the throttle body so maybe that's causing the problem

It just doesnt seem like it would be cold enough for it to cause a issue not having the coolant lines attached?? Wasnt the IAC bad when you got the TB or was it the TPS??

as for why it wont shift? its possible one of those is related to it. Try reattaching the coolant lines and see if it happens tomorrow?

The IAC was bad. I may try swapping the TPS sensor from my old TB if the coolant line connection doesn't help.

OK, well I reconnected thep bypass coolant line to the throttle body last night and this morning the car did not generate a CEL.

I did also remove the gas cap and put it back on. Last time all I did was tighten it, so hopefully that solved P1457.

Interesting. I'd also think that it isn't cold enough yet to have the coolant lines on or off have any affect. Anyways, glad to hear your up and running again.

It's back. I bought a throttle position sensor and I'm going to replace that this week. I can tell it's starting to go.

And it's back again. Had to drive a good 10 minutes before resetting the CEL.

Gonna order another TPS and calibrate it.
Btw TL has ~204k and going in for it's 2nd timing belt/water pump next week.

You can't buy an oem TPS sensor. Acura only sells the entire throttle body which is a fortune. There's a bunch of vendors on eBay that sell an after-market TPS sensor

Guess my TPS sensor was out of calibration.
Readjusted it over the weekend now it's good as new.
.45v reading when closed .

Keep in mind the OEM one is really not adjustable. IIRC the OEM one has bolts with no head so you have to cut them off with a dremel and then back the screws out . The aftermarket sensors have Allen head bolts.

You need to see .45 volts when the tps is closed.
Using a volt meter, red probe into red wire and black probe on negative battery post.
To adjust it you have to loosen the bolts a tiny bit and rock the sensor until it reads .45v. I'll be honest it's a bit of a PITA to do it because every time you tighten the bolts the reading is off a tiny bit.
