Post chrome help?

hey guys,

i need some advice. i hit a flat and so had to get my a tire replaced. in the process of calibrating my tire with the rim, the guy pulled out the old wheel weights and along with them came some chrome. im afraid dirt is gonna get in there and start spreading kinda like cancer. i heard clear nail polish? any ideas?
