Exclamation Attn Wdptls: LOC Install Instructons

well this is in response to a letter that i recieved from a fellow acuraziner who had a question in regards to how to use a LOC, line out converter. my mail wasn't working so this is the only way i could send a response back. (mods if is needs to be moved, go right ahead) Anyways this is an attachment of the letter i recieved:

Hey i just noticed you used a LOC to install your amp. Im using the same setup as you, I was just wondering, where did u tap the LOC into? and did you LOC have four wires? Mine has four wires and says for me to connect + and _ to left and right respectively. Im so confused, any help is greatly appreciated..

MY RESPONSE:

I have the same LOC as you; 2 positive and 2 negative. Follow these instructions and you should be good to go.

1. twist the 2 positives together.
2. twist the 2 negatives together.
3. remove side pillar next to the passenger seat.
4. tap into the right rear speaker door via side pillar. see pic.
http://img337.imageshack.us/my.php?image=11ml6.jpg
5. connect twisted positives to red/yellow wire. (+)
6. connect twisted negatives to brown/white. (-)
7. connect and run rca wires from LOC to amp.
8. complete wiring up your amp to sub/battery/ground/remote
9. turn up the volume and enjoy your work!

*Note* the reason why i twisted the positives and negatives together in step 1 and 2 is because polarity doesnt matter. 9 times out of 10 the balance on my headunit is at center. You could easily tap into the left rear speaker via side pillar if you wanted to keep right separte from the left.

I hope that this is thread will once and for all answer any questions in regards to using a LOC when adding a system. I've ansered this question way to many times.

any other questions about using an LOC or adding a system can probably be answered go to this link:

Maybe the mods could sticky this or put it in the right forum. Thanks

I wouldn't hook up a LOC this way because some music plays different things out of each channel. The reason the LOC has 4 wires is to hook up one channel to one pair and another channel to the other pair. If you want the best sound quality take the time to hook up the left and right rear channels to their respective pair of wires.

Think of the amp....it has a red and white input...one for the left and one for the right channel....one you use won channel you aren't connecting the amp right....Don't Do IT!!!!!!

If you are doing this to add an amp for a subwoofer, it wouldn't really matter to have both channels twisted to make one channel, right?

your not gonna have problems...its just that the sound quality will be better if you set up the way it is meant to be set up.
