Another 2nd gen eats the dust... possibly totaled

So one of my parents' employees backed into the side of my tl. His insurance is supposed to come Monday to take a look. I think it's going to be totaled, but I'm not sure. What do you guys think? And what would be an acceptable amount to get? The car was a 2000 with navigation and had 127,000 miles.

To top it off, I just bought a new dimming rear-view mirror and had a new windshield installed two days ago.

The front door also does not open, so I'm thinking the b-pillar must be damaged.

That is nowhere near a total. It looks like all you need to do is replace the door. I was expecting the car to be smashed up pretty good. This is nothing.

This is a total loss: https://acurazine.com/forums/2g-tl-1999-2003-98/death-another-tl-s-832959/

Only because of the age though. If it was newer it would probably be repaired.

300 for a used shell, couple hundred for the trim and other small damaged parts. 400 for paint and another 6 for labor...thats like 2 grand max, how could it be totaled its just a door!

damn, i was wanting a new car.

the front door is also bent in from the side. and there is damage to wheel arch in the back. i was thinking it would be a loss since these 2nd gens aren't worth much these days.

I'd say its still worth $4500-$5000 if the paint and interior are good. Not sure how they fix the arch though...

was it an SUV or truck that hit you? seems like a lot of damage for a parking lot accident.

sorry dude that sucks, exactly what happened to me (only mine was magnitudes lesser in damage)

I replaced the door and everything, but I haven't been able to properly fix the wheel arch.

on an aside, if you do total it make sure you sell those OEM chromes.

those aren't too easy to find now a days

highly doubtful that is totaled. Its a pretty easy and cheap repair (one you could probably do most the work yourself and pocket some money)
