Alternator bracket and bolt flange keep breaking!
Hello. I am having issues with my belts and pulleys obviously but idk exactly what the root of this all is and I'm in dire need of a point in tje right direction. I bought this 03 TL type S off a guy privately. Good price. He says he replaced the head gasket and timing belt b4 i purchased it from him .Not long after that I had to replace the alternator bracket .Now the alternator bolt flange has snapped in half and the bracket has snapped again. What I'm trying to find out is what is the root of this problem so I can get it running correctly .The tensioner seems to be functioning properly but i was told by a friend to maybe replace it .If anyone out there can help me it would be greatly appreciated .I'm a younger guy who has an expensive car to maintain but am motivated to do the work myself .

IMO: I think It's unlikely, that the Belt Tensioner, is the cause of your problem. It is more likely, whomever did the H/G - T/B repair, reassembled the components, IMPROPERLY, Something, is definitely, mis-aligned, causing the alternator flange to snap! I would suggest, you take the car, to a Technician, or Shop, familiar with Honda/Acura cars, and pay for a diagnosis. Such a Shop, should be able to examine the damaged bracket, and flange, and identify the cause of the problem. I could be wrong, but, FWIW, in my experience, with the 2G TL models, a H/G failure, is quite rare.
