Here. This is the only evidence we have of a supercharged RL. It is comptech, but I don't know if it is the TL version.

for the price of a supercharger you might as well upgrade to a newer car...
not to mention all the complications of having an aftermarket part.
Some of us are pushing over 280whp stock...

Tell us how that goes when the ice hits...

I completely disagree. I think the supercharger is a really cool idea for someone who has a sound RL that's no longer under warranty, likes its reliability advantages over German sedans, wants more performance, and plans to keep it for a while to get the value from their investment.
It's clear that our cars, with their SH-AWD and other advantages, can put way more power to the ground safely than the stock engine asks of them -- especially if you firm up the suspension a little bit with the A-Spec parts. If Honda weren't such a conservative company, they might well have done something like this themselves.
It's the exact same engine as in the '06-07 TL-S, so there's no obstacle there. And as for the ice, that's best addressed with winter tires, whether you have more horsepower or not. The same objection could be made about any powerful car.
I'd be excited to see another person try this.

Back on topic, the supercharger used in the thread quoted above was a supercharger for the 3G TL. The 3.5 liter engines are essentially the same. The issue the installer had was room under the hood but he made it work. The work was done by Autowave, which I believe is in LA. You may want to contact them to ask what they did, or if you are local to them, stop by. I think I still have their contact info somewhere to dig up if you are really interested.

Hi guys
First of all, thank you very much for the link with a supercharged RL. That sounds awesome sb did it.
Once I read it, I will probably need some more help how or where I can upgrade my car.

I don't know whether anyone has supercharged their MDX. It'd be an interesting project for sure, though.

I have just bought the Comptech SC. Hopefully, I will have some time before Christams to put it to my car. I will let you know the results, once it is installed. If I am satisfied with it, I will also put it into my brother's 2008 MDX, ans also I will let you know how it works.
thanx for all your help

You must post pictures taken during the install. This will be helpful to all.

just a short note, I would love to put 6 psi, but I am not sure what kind of modifications it will require to make it work properly, and I would like to have that car for daily crusing

I went back and re-read that thread. Long after he dyno'd the car, he reported that the engine computer was continuing to adjust for several weeks afterward, and the car seemed to just keep getting more powerful and faster. I have a feeling you're really going to like this.

I'm not aware of any particular problems that the rear differential has had on these cars. If there's been a weak link in the driveline, it's been the carbon fiber driveshaft. It starts to make a subtle but characteristic noise at certain road speeds; there are other posts on this board that describe it better than I can.

Obviously any big increase in power puts added strain on all the driveline components. But this isn't the same fragile transmission that made trouble in other Hondas and Acuras. Keep up on your fluid changes, and your odds of trouble-free service should be good.

I would look to the Spoon RL as driven proof that the drivetrain in the RL is pretty stout and the Mugen Legend MAX as manufacturer faith the axles and diff can hold up. I understand what you mean, L. Moving 2 tons quickly isn't easy, but I think there is enough room here for the added power.
Or maybe I just REALLY want this to succeed...

Depending on how many miles are on my RL after I graduate this might be something I would be interested in doing especially seeing that it should be around the time when they become cheap enough for the ricer/young crowd to start buying these and maybe the comptech supercharger and such will start coming down in price. I plan on keeping the car anyways, at least as a winter driver.

the CT supercharger can be found on the blackmarket here on azine for as little as $2500 and up to "new" prices at around $4k.
the comptech supercharger is small for the 3.2....
imagine putting it on a 3.5....and you'll get way less numbers
plus, what are you going to use to tune?
the tunes that are out there now, suck.
and the only real one that has control over everything is the MS3(J&R)
and J&R is having trouble producing these.

There is one other person that has had the comptech installed on the RL and it gave a 45WHP improvement at just 2.5 PSI. From 227 to 272. There was no ECU tune done.
