Flickering headlight help

Flickering headlight help
The passenger side HID bulb flickers intermittently. If I shut the lights on and off it may or may not help. Sometimes it does but other times it doesnt stop flickering. I am not about to bring it to the dealer, any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

Have you done a search? In the 8 years this car has existed, yours is not the first to have a headlight flicker. Could be bulb, ballast, or ignitor. Chances are, it's your bulb. Don't waste your money on a cheap bulb.

I've had the same issue with my 05 RL. I had the bulb replaced. Solved the problem. Dealer said the bulb had a crack, that's why it flickered. I probably paid a premium, it was about a $300 job.

If the dealer does the work, they will charge $120-150/bulb. You can get a quality pair of aftermarket bulbs for ~$80/pair. A top of the line pair of OSRAM bulbs can be had for ~$150. The absolute cheapest I would go is Morimoto for $40/pair from The Retrofit Source.
You can do the work yourself and save the dealer labor rates if you have an hour and the mechanical abilities.

Stesst,
No, at that price they're almost certainly Osram HID-D2S "replacements". Buy from a reputable place like the retrofitsource, or be prepared to do your homework on how many knockoff bulbs are out there and how to tell the difference.
Do a search here, and look at all the headlight threads - people have seriously damaged their headlights by using cheap knockoff replacement bulbs. Searching is easy - give it a try

I had the same problem for about 6 years and finally just decided to buy new bulbs for 95 bucks on ebay and it took me about 30 minutes to change the bulbs at home..... So far everything has been fine. Dealer said it would be 300 each bulb to replace....

I did the work myself as well, but bought some cheapos, and now, they're flickering again after being in there for 4 months. Not going cheap out the next time, lesson learned.

My passenger side flickered intermittently as well and a week ago my driver side went out so I went ahead to change them the right way (bumper and headlamp removal). It took me about 3 hours to do it the right way myself I envy you car savvy guys. Anyways when I got to the bulbs I found out the thing that connects the bulb (the ballast?) was loose on the one that flickered intermittently and the other was completely off.... I fiddled with it a few months back because the driver side was flickering so I switched it without removing anything except the battery. Nonetheless my hand came out all scratched up and this was the result.
My point is it could be a loose connection based on my experience.

The funny thing is that you took the route with the most car work. Acura probably chose this route for two reasons: 1) more labor time & 2) optimal working space to not risk damaging bulb and inspect other parts. Going through the hood involves the least work, but has the tightest/hardest spaces to work with. Removing the wheel well liner would be the other option.
