Demonized Steering Column
This morning I went out to start the car and warm it up for the wife and the steering column had a mind of its own! I tried to turn the key on and it wouldn't go, but the steering column went bezerk on me, by moving up/down and in/out all by itself! The key wouldn't turn, like it was locked.
I got out the key from the FOB, removed the shell cover, and tried to insert the key. It was not an easy go, but once the key was in, it started right up.
Is this a temperature thing? It was really cold last night in to the 20's here.

The car could not recognize your fob. Without a fob, a push of the knob will initialize the telescoping column. Once the car realizes no fob is present, the column will retreat.
Are you fob batteries good? Was your fob near a cell phone, laptop, or charger? Was it put of the range of the imobilizer?

1. yes the fob batteries are good, but with today's quality of batteries, they could be on their way out. 2. No cell phones, chargers etc, just dang cold! Fob laying on the center console.
I will look into getting some new batteries if the problem repeats itself.
Thank you for the advice.
