3rd brake light not working.

I was behind my wife and the third brake light is not working at all. I popped the cover and it's connected just fine. I noticed in another post somebody said they replaced the switch for the brake pedal but I can't seem to find it the switch. Help please!

Wouldn't the switch control all the brake lights?

Thanks for quick responses! Do they sell these at auto zone or anything like that so I can get it quick? I don't want me or her stopped. Just got the windows done and I know they would probably say something to have it removed.

Most people found the connection was just loose. You can also just pop off the CHMSL housing and check the connection there too. Use your fingers to pull it down.

That's what I would have thought, too. I assume the other two brake lights are working. Is it possible the light or its connection is just burned out? Unusual but possible.

The brake light itself probably went out. More common than you might think. Happened to mine, I ended up replacing the entire light since it is LED, you cannot replace part of it. Price was around $100, but it works fine now.

Just a quick update guys... I ordered the part from rockauto using the part # from 92 blk ty, cost 12 bucks after shipping. Works perfect. Thanks again, this forum is great!

The LED is almost always NOT the problem. The problem is the brake light switch just above the brake pedal. The part number is 36750-SMA-003. You can buy it at an Acura or Hondy dealer for about $11. Autozone also has it for $10 under part number SW6271. Here’s a YouTube that shows how to install it.
. It’s very simple!
