Oh yeah, I'm so shocked at a supercharged RL that I haven't made my usual cutting remarks about the awful base wheels yet.

More pix added. Still waiting for dyno. It's coming from the installer, so it may be some time before we see it.

Edit: BTW, I just noticed it's a CMBS RL. It will be the safest supercharged vehicle on the planet.....

This car is definitely FTW. I am so happy that someone finally did this!

very clean install too...how much was the supercharger/install/tuning alone? the brake additions are nice...but who are you kidding, without BBKs nothing is stopping that thing from triple digits.

I always thought no one went ahead with the CT SC on the RL because of the ECU/tuning aspect of it.

VERY NICE. I would kill to hear one in real life, althought.. I hear it all the time. lol

Actually if it had some EBC Redstuff or similar high temp pads it would easily do repeated hard stops from high speed without fade... I had a turbo Civic with 280whp and the stock 10.2" brakes with high temp pads were fine for the street even with some really hard driving. The RL does have pretty big brakes already it’s just the stock pads are made to be quiet and don’t have a high enough temp range. I've already had the stock brakes smoking with stock power but it's just cause the pads suck lol.

It is pretty cool to drive a car for 3 yrs and see it transformed into the Car, Acura should have made.
Just adding 2.5lbs Boost adds 45 HP to the wheels. The car drives totally different, I will see how 6lbs boost feels, I suspect for my purposes this may be too much Horse Power.
The A-spec Suspension is a little stiff but definitely gives a solid feeling of control.
Power Slot Rotors, More aggressive pads and Steel Brake lines, feel much firmer. I am curious how much shorter the stoping distances are.
There is a lot of custom work that goes into a project of this nature for the specifics it is best to contact Shane at Autowave in Huntington Beach.
The Dyno Sheet has been sent to Neurobob.
Thank you, Neurobob for helping me share this exciting information with our fellow Acura enthusiasts.
Best Wishes

Regarding the Brakes.
There are mixed reviews on Power Slot Rotors, but I believe alot of the issues haveto do with improper installation.
More Aggressive Pads and Steel Brake lines definitely feel like they stop the car faster.
I saw a post by a person who drives on the Autobahn, who gave a rave review on the Rotors( with out Steel Brake lines and Aggressive pads) no problems stopping from more than 100 MPH.
This car is my daily driver, I believe the Suspension and brakes make it safer.

ctgasman, I also have the SS brake lines and they don't make the distances any shorter, just make the brake pedal feel more linear and connected.

As far as brake pads/rotors, I haven't tried changing mine yet as I like to have them quite and unlike my TL they aren't warped yet...pleasantly surprised with 20k on the odo.

What software did they use for tuning, same stuff as the TL?

I imagine the 3.5 TL-S being quite similar to RL.

Congrats on getting it done.

Now go out there and pounce on unsuspecting v8 Luxo drivers. lol

Do you have any details about fuel management?

Injectors used, fuel pump, which system was used to tune with?

Did they do any exhaust work?

I plan to one day join you in the ranks of a supercharged RL.

I'm thinking that should bring the RL from the 15s to the mid 14s with that boost. Low 14s should be possible with some added boost and a nice tune. I am also curious about the tuning you have on there. Looks great.

THE DYNO IS ON PAGE 1. JUST POSTED.

272 whp after SC, 227 whp before.

Man I almost wish I'd kept my RL to do this now. This is the RL A-Spec Acura should have given us!

Now ctgasman, get some A-Spec wheels. If you were in Cleveland, I'd take you for a run on I-480. I'd go easy on you, of course, with the CTS-V.

Also the tq jumps from 190-200 to 230-240 in the mid range. The 25% increase in WTQ will make it a more pleaurable DD. Not the pin you into the seat OOMPH but definitely enough to give you a big grin while launching the car.

This car must be a blast, did you do any exhaust work? An upgraded exhaust will yield some nice added HP.

Ok talked to autowave it is a tls supercharger only modifications made were an odasey battery (you can see the red top tucked under the factory spot) you have to remove the sc to get to it but oh well! And modify the upper radiator hose! Ther was NO fuel management done! (you will need it if you run more boost) the exhaust is also stock!

With a 35% drivetrain loss, that 272 whp translates roughly to 418 hp at the crank. Can you imagine the 60' time for that at the track? With all four wheels providing grip?

I also had read that SHAWD accounts for about 35% loss but from the dyno sheet stock WHP 227 implies only ~25% loss from 300HP (stock). Does it imply that Dyno was wrong in the base run or 35% loss was being assumed incorrectly.

@ 25% loss Crank HP = 362 , @ 35%loss Crank HP = 418. Thats a huge difference from the point of view of what the stock engine can handle.

can't think of anything i would like more than to do this.......I'm curious on the tuning abilities of the car though, I think with the right maps, tweak the vtec engagement and a strong trans the RL could be quite a car

The 35% drivetrain loss was calculated from the only other two RLs on the board that were dynoed (both listed in the Garage link for this very purpose). We spent much time in my dyno thread speculating the reason for such weak numbers as I got...and which were nearly consistent on two different dynos.

I wonder if the Autowave folks dyno'ed by removing the driveshaft, making the RL effectively FWD? This is how the TOV dyno'ed the RDX after its release, so there is precedent.

I'd love to hear from Autowave themselves about how they did this. It would make such a great writeup for us.

Thanks guys for all the nice words and a special thanks to ctgasman for giving us the opportunity to play with with his car The project was a little frustrating at times But since were kinda of use to modifying Honda/Acuras for the last 25 years not a problem. As far as the RL project we did base line dynos on a all wheel dyno first But this car didn't like that much and we were a little UN easy trying to push the car so we opted out to take the drive shaft out and run the car on our Dyno Dynamics Dyno which worked out great. As far as the kit. We used a CT Type S TL kit to start with and the only cutting was to some of the plastic in the engine bay. We were very excited that we were able to keep the factory ecu happy in the end witch was one of our biggest concerns. The air fuel ratios were spot on and there was no detonation at all. Our next change in the car will be a couple more pounds of boost and some exhaust work If the gasman can convince his wife that awesome sound of the supercharger is very normal for a older car. By the way if you have any questions please give me a call at the shop Cheers Shane
