So I have searched and I can't find exactly what's happening with my car so here we go.

I just got my RL a few months ago. I had tested to see if the AC worked and when it's colder outside, it seemed pretty cold.
Lately here in Denver it's been getting to the 80's so I started using my AC. The air always blew cooler but not cold, so I decided to recharge the system. I bought a can of R134 and put it into the system.

The air started blowing really cold air while temp was set to low. It was great. I had the fan at high and I turned it down after like 10 minutes and realized the air wasn't cold. I thought I turned off the air on accident. The AC was on, it was set to low and the cool air turned to lukewarm'ish air. I turned the system off and then back on. I tried turning the re circulation on/off and same thing. As I left a light I was stopped at the air started blowing cold again for a few and then same thing all over again.

So it appears that the system is still charged, it's just not turning on all the time. I can tell the compressor is engaging and disengaging when turned on/off.

Any ideas as to what the issue may be?

Why did you recharge the system? Was it leaking? You may have overcharged perhaps?

Because it was cool not cold. Something I've done on other vehicles that fixed the issue. I figured since it's a 2005 and I have no idea what was done prior that I would try the simple fix. I don't believe it was leaking.

What can happen with over charging the system? I had a gauge showing the system the system was full after putting the 134 in. It wasn't in the red or anything so I assumed it was fine.

Ac is one of the most common issues with the 05 and to a lesser extent 06. It is the stator/field coil that goes bad. Intermittent issues.

Well, looks like about $100 for the part but who knows how long to actually replace it. I saw a walkthrough but it was on an MDX so I'm not sure how different it would be.
