I recently purchased a RDX FWD (Base - non Tech) model. I am confused if I should buy the Acura Care plan. They are offering it for $1600+tax for 4 year / 48 month maint care package.

a) Is it truly beneficial (cost economics) to buy such a combined deal

b) What prices have others paid for something like this ?

Few things on my personal front i) I plan to keep this car for many years ii) I am not going to spend time personally to do it, so will likely go to a dealer or an independent operator

Saccucci Honda/Acura sells the 48/60k maintenance plan for about $1050. Your dealer is overpriced. Search for saccucci Acura warranty.

Is the maintenance plan a Acura national plan? Can you buy it at another (out of state) dealer and use it at the dealer 1,000 miles away that you bought the car at?

Sure. The contract itself will come from Acura. It is entered into their database and will show up at (most)every dealer.

In theory, a dealer doesn't need to honor the plan but I've yet to find a dealer who doesn't. There is an 800 number that you can call that will tell you which of your local dealers take the plan. Have the names and cities of the dealers you are asking about ready when you call.

Put the following words into a google search field "saccucci acura warranty"

When you get to the warranty page, select your car, enter a mileage under 6000 and your email. You will get an email with warranty costs. Below that warranty quote will be a quote for the maintenance plans. You'll have to call to order it. I don't think you can order the maintenance by itself online.

I suspect that CoachRick's comment was more "off the cuff" than an actual 1/4 of the price. IIRC, 48/60k plan is about a grand, the 48/48 is about 800 and the cost on the 36/36 is in the 600 range. The Saccucci email will give you that info. I do know from discussions with multiple dealers that their cost on the 48/60 is $860. Saccucci sells it for $850 if you buy a warranty. I can't imaging the 36/36 being $400.

Is anyone really concerned about problems with an acura and less than 75k miles? I'm shooting for 15-20 yrs on this one...no warranty plans. What am I missing?

Thanks for all (and CEB), I just bought the maintenance plan from Saccucci Honda 48m/60K miles for $1045. I find it curious that in the actual contract it says 5000 years and 48K miles...??? I will call him tomorrow for correction.

Good that it worked. The 5000 years sounds good but 48k miles isn't good.
