2016 Transfer Case control module in a 2013?
Wondering if putting in a 2016 TC module in a 2013 would increase power distribution to rear wheels in a AWD RDX, since that's one of the changes they made to the 2016 RDX. Anyone knows if that might work? Reason I ask is that my AWD is basically FWD, SH-AWD was king and they should have kept it.

Went to the dealer for a car wash, went to the parts department, asked about the TC CM, and it is different for 2016, but the guy wouldn't give me the part number saying customers shouldn't mess with stuff, yeah right! Watch me!

I am sure you can easily find the part # but from what I understand you won't get much benefit as the system isn't going to match the 1st gen system no matter what you do.

I did find the part number ($145), and it might work if everything else is the same (tra sfer case, rear diff) if all they changed is the control module, which they did since the part number changed for 2016, and I bet the wiring is the same.

I don't know how fixated you are for getting a little extra power to rear wheels which you may not feel at all assuming it worked as intended. But doing all this swapping of vital transmission components and risking the warranty, is it really worth it? I for all think it may be just a marketing gimmick.
But yes, if it makes you feel better then go for it.

Warranty! LOL! My 2013 has 83,000 miles, I don't give a damn about warranty. Awd CU is a standalone unit, worst that can happen is it fries when I turn on the car, if it does, I'll put the old one back in. It's not connected to the engine or trans ECU, if it were I wouldn't take the chance, and If it works, getting 40℅ to the rear wheels instead of 25℅ will be one of the best mods for 2013-2015 AWD owners out there. Control Unit is $145, a lot cheaper than getting a 2016 rdx.

I had such problems.
Buying a new control unit resolved the issue.
I found the control unit are: Control unit ECU Parts

if the connector is the same and has the same signaling pins then it will most likely work. If Honda/Acura made other changes (like beefing up the mechanicals a bit) you may run into overheat issues. Also if Honda is doing a system check and the Body Control Unit cannot ID the device it might just leave it off...and that would defeat the point.
