Driving Impressons
I now have 777 miles on my 2013 RDX. I wanted to give a few comparisons of my driving experience with the RDX and the 2001 MDX that I drove for the previous 11 years and 104,000 miles.
First, the RDX is definitely way out in front with all of the new tech stuff.
+ I notice much less road noise with the RDX.
+ I notice much less wind noise with the RDX.
+ The RDX has no Kazoo!
+ The size and general feel is very similar to the MDX. The RDX is close in size to the 2001-2006 MDX. The 2007-2013 MDX is noticeably larger.
+ I have not noticed the lack of feel with the electrical steering that other folks have mentioned. Maybe the 2001 MDX also had lack of steering feel?
+ I am still not used to the drive by wire throttle. There is no noticeable feed back and I make a lot of "hot rod" starts. Part of this may be that the RDX has 33 more HP than the MDX and weighs about 500 pounds less.
+ The brakes on the RDX have much more stopping power than the MDX. I continue to stop short, and then drive forward to where I actually wanted to stop.
I am sure that the throttle and brake issue will go away with time. I am a very happy camper with my 2013 RDX.
Regards, Jim

I am at 1100 miles on mine. You will get used to the brake issue with time. The quick starts? I hope that never goes away. I traded in a 2007 Grand Cherokee that was so underpowered I am loving the quickness of the RDX. And yes, the RDX is amazingly quiet. Was totally surpised to see consumer reports say it was too noisy. Maybe they just got a flawed model... As far as the steering, again, compared to the Jeep, the RDX feels tight and responsive to me.

I think the steering is fine. The biggest surprise for me has been the solid handling and minimal body roll.
On the minus side, I find the engine and the transmission to be "lazy," probably in aid of fuel economy. If I didn't know this car had 273bhp, I would think it had far less. You really need to get on it to harness the power.

I too think the steering and brakes are fine. Mine is also very quiet. The only slight fault I find is with the transmission which "short shifts" in the first 2 or 3 gears at modest throttle off the line. Like Hugh say, I also think this is intentional on the part of Acura to improve fuel economy. In this mode the transmission is not particularly smooth shifting but certainy acceptable. Short shifting at low throttle is also mentioned as a complaint in road tests of many ofther newer vehicles.

I definately agree that there's one of two different starts off the line in the '13 RDX. The fuel economy one which rolls slowly and the cant-quite-find-the-gear-ok-here-it-is racing start.
Considering my last vehicle was a stick shift that seems to annoy me a little but once we're in motion the 273 HP seems to make up for that deficiency.
