Rear makes loud noises when going over bumps
I just noticed that whenever my car goes over speed bumps, the rear of the car makes some kind of weird noises, almost like there's some kind of problem with the springs. It's more like a loud squeaking noise. Has this happened to anyone else? And just to make sure, I popped open the trunk and pushed the rear up and down a few times and there's these really loud noises coming from underneath. I have Comptech sways but still have the factory springs.

Mine was making noises too when I first got it. Turns out the muffler hangers were in the wrong place, so the mufflers were rattling around every time I hit a bump. Check to see if that may be the problem.
If not, I have no clue....

Thanks for the tip on the mufflers. I've checked them though and they seem to be fine. But after searching through some old posts, I'm guessing it's a blown shock. I'll be taking it into the dealer tomorrow morning to get it checked out.

Did you use lithium grease, or teflon tape on the Comptech sway install? If grease, that's you problem. You nee to use the teflon tape at the bushing mounting points. Should solve you issue.

Jim and Wayne, thanks a lot for the info. I used the grease when the Comptech sways were installed so hopefully that's the entire problem right there.

i had the a weird loose lumber noise from the rear, it turns out that the inner webbing on the rear exhaust rubber hangers were the cause, they were cut out and its fine - i think it might have been a tl bulliten

It is rare, but some folks have had their sway bar links break and they will make a squeak/noise. Surprising that people don't notice the loss of the rear bar's action around corners and turns, but it's been reported...
BTW, I like typeR's suggestion about the Teflon tape (re grease) and I'm going to change to the tape in my sway bar bushings.

my rear end sounds like its going to fall off the car when i go over bumps.
dunno what it is... could be the mufflers.
it sounds very similar to what it would sound like if your trunk lid wasnt shut and it was bouncing up and down when goin over bumps.
i would take it into dealer but theyll just use the subs in my trunk or the coil-overs as a cop out
i hate my local dealer.
i dunno how to analyze this sound. so i dont know how to fix it. could be anything ??
i dont have sways.
what should i be looking for when checking the mufflers (i cant do this till warmer weather anyway... too f-in cold)

Soopa... I think thats definitely the mufflers...
Mine were hangers were in the wrong place so every time I went over a bump, it would rattle against the car...
I would get under there if I were you and shake the mufflers and see if they rattle against the car body....
BTW when I installed the comptech exhaust, it stopped...

Soopa...
all you really need to do is walk to the back end, push down the muffler about a half inch to an inch and release it if it goes BOIIINNGGG and knocks against the body of the car, thats your problem.
Check the rubber hangers underneath and see if you can re-locate them. Or get a comptech exhaust... hehe

If it squeaks, then it it probably the grease on the sway bars. I used to have this problem. Everytime I went over speed bump, it the squeak would annoy me so much! Then I got the grease replaced with teflon tape and the sound is gone. It's amazing how some stupid tape can make your car so much better to drive!
Hope this helps,
Peter.

Has anyone done this themselves?
