Does this mean I need new brake pads, or do my rotars need to be re-surfaced?

Could be warping of rotors. People have posted the TSB for 01 CL replacement of brake pads and rotors (if necessary to replace rotors).
Could be...

Your rotors are warped. They will have to put new pads as well after the surface your rotors......
BITCH at them and it will be covered under warranty. So far, I've had it done at 30K and just picked it up today, having it done AGAIN at 48,900 miles !
These brakes are WEAK on the CL.........

I just got new pads and new rotors replaced today for free! This was my second time going in for pulsating brakes. I only have 27,000 miles though. I'm not sure what they do with cars that have more. I think mentioning the TSB helped though. I think they would of charged me if I didn't mention it.

Bro I feel the same thing. U almost wanna shit ur pants when U go from 80 to 20 when ur on the highway and are faced with a situation. Well thats what happened to me on I-95 in Ft. Lauderdale. A camper top fell off of a pickup and the cars infront of me (all doin 80) slammed on thier brakes. I was a good distance from the car infront. But its hard to ever imagine someone in front of u doing highway speeds, not giving u any head up notice and slaming on thier brakes. What sucked was it was a Benz and there was no lock up. When I slammed on my brakes I saw the distance between the car infront of me and my car close in almost a sec. All the braking did was make my steering wheel shake uncontrolably and slow me down. The only way I avoided that situation was to jump into the emergency lane to miss the rear end of that Benz.
Now in reguards to the rotors and warranty. I am worried because I've never taken my car to the dealership for service because I've alwaysed done the work myself. But if I were to now take my car in for the rotors they will probably tell me that they will not do the brakes under warranty. Because of either wear and tear or that I've never taken it in for service. Thus allowign them to spot the rotors earlier. So tell me what u think about my situation.
Tnx

Juker008> well, unless you're using harsh aftermarket brake pads, then there's really no legal basis for them to deny you your warranty.
but do realize this that if you're warping your OEM rotors now, turning them (meaning they grind away metal from the rotors to smooth out the surface) will only make them easier to warp the next time around.
a lot of cars suffer from brake shimmy, but it's very rampant among heavy acuras and hondas.
you could always go with these:
some say overkill (especially for my car), but the brake shimmy pisses me off enough to warrant them in my opinion.

Cool Tnx,
Well yea I really don't think that they will void my warranty but I do have the thought looming over my head. What I am mainly concerned about is that they deni Warranty repair because I have 37K on the car.
And as for those rotors SWEEEET. Yea I've always thought of getting a set of Willwoods. The Willwoods are a 6 piston caliper set rather than the Brembo's 4 piston. But I really don't have 1-1.2K to spend on brakes right now. All I want to do now is milk Acura for what they are worth. Especially after I found out how much my car is worth after only 2 years....THAT IS FKin BS. And its all due to the defects that have/are happening with the car.

And I guess that the trannys going out on all of us is because we drive our cars too hard, right. And the reason why the seat belt won't retract is because we pull on them too hard. Oh and the head lights blowing out is that because we use them too much at night too, .

HOLY CRAP! Thank goodness for this forum. I was doing a search for other things, but happened upon this thread. It seemed to diagnosis a condition I have been dealing with in my '01 CL-S.
I honestly thought that the abrupt steering wheel movement was normal following a hard brake. Or may be I'm over-reacting? When I slam on the brakes on slick roads, how is the steering wheel supposed to react? More smooth, or more stiff? Is the pulsing normal under these conditions? And should there be a hard drumming (dum-dum-dum-dum) sound when I try to recover control of the car under these slick conditions?

I am so pissed, Acura is refusing to do mine under warranty, they say it's not covered and that the dealer would only do it under good will, and b/c i am the third owner they are telling me to go take a flying leap. I am not finished with this.
