I successfully added a shock sensor to the factory alarm this weekend by following some of the wonderful instructions found on this board.

I also installed a microwave motion sensor that triggers the alarm if there is motion in the passenger compartment.

My car should be pretty well protected now.


All in all, it took me about 45 minutes to put both sensors in. I think I could do it in 15 minutes now that I'm familliar with finding that one tricky yellow wire.

I recently installed a shock sensor also. I had a question for you, does your alarm go off with impact to the headlights area? Mine is pretty sensitive with respect to impact on the windows, but not the front of the car. Also, how much did that microwave sensor run you? Is it worth it? Thanks.

Moodist if I were you I'd just splice in a second sensor in the engine compartment

the motion sensor will false wayy to much. I reccommend putting a switch to manualy shut off only the motion sensor (parking in tight spaces)

blader, I plan to install another sensor when I get some time. I was just trying to gauge how well other people's sensors are working. I just hate the fact that I have to put two sensors in, when one good one should do the trick.

I personally don't think its necessary to removed the fuse block as in the instructions on sliverknights site.

It's easier to just find the wire on the back of the fuse block and put a wire tap on it. If you press the emergency brake down as far as you can, it makes getting to the yellow and grey wire a little easier.

If I didnt take the fuse box out, it would be hard to take the pic which identifies the wire. Remember, at the time when I did this, there was only one or 2 ATL members who did it. Not that many ppl knew exactly where the wire was.

Heck, with the pic, Joe, novawhitetypes, still had to call me when he did his

Just a little clarification. But you are right, don't take the fuse box, it's harder than it looks.
