6 speeders: anybody else get a shudder/not smooth shift when it's really cold ...

Ok so now I know it's not in my imagination .....last time we had really really cold spell here in NYC (before this crazy one now...) it seemed like I could not get a really smooth shift happening no matter how much I really tried. Seemed like there was this 'shudder' or blip-blip-blip happening at the end of the clutch release. (btw yes the car was warmed up....) Then it warmed up for a week, no problem noticed, now its happening again and it was 9 degrees today, 14 yesterday, etc... Anybody ???

Its funny you say that because this morning it was like -2* and my clutch actually felt smoother engaging. No shite.

I always warm up the car for a few minutes before leaving my house. We just had pretty cold weather here in the high teens and 20's and I had no problems. The 6 speed does not like to run cold, just let it warm up!

Woops, just noticed you said the car was warmed up. So, no I haven't experienced it!

seems like theres some type of 'high spots' or maybe 'wavyness' (technical terms...) in the friction material. Car has 10k and I'm really by the book with the shifts. Now since Ive never driven a car that had a 'slipping clutch' I dont really know what it might feel like when it starts

Yes, but it goes away once warmed up. I chalk it up to being just a feature and not something I worry about.

Clutch surface (like brake pads) need to be hot before it works right. When it's really cold, you'll get the shutter. Kind of annoys you though. Makes you feel like you don't know shit about standards when it's really cold!
