Aaron- could be your flex pipe, mine makes a ton of noise.
As far as the flex pipe goes: I have wrapped mine twice already, need to do it again actually. First time I started at one end going keeping it super tight then clamped the end. That didn't hold for more than a year. Next time I used 2 clamps one at both ends, it's still holding but I'm low and scrapped it and it tore somewhat and now I can hear the resonance/leak/wonk noises again. If I didn't have the header wrap that scrape would have probably ruined the flex pipe.

By the way I got in on that early batch of XS headers which where the good ones. I'm 4 years and 40,000 miles riding with them, no cracks, leaks, problems(besides noisy flex pipe), and they fit like a glove. I'm real happy, if they do end up breaking (knock on wood) they don't owe me anything.

Question guys, I'm about to re-adjust my headers (the J-pipe) + gaskets.

Did you guys attach the J-Pipe-to-cat LAST, as in, not even line up the 3 bolts until the headers + j-pipe was completely bolted/torqued down?

I'm thinking that's my problem...the tensions from the oem cat-back is causing my J-Pipe not to line up properly to the header banks.

I found it easier to attach the pipe to the cat first. Then I had more leverage to twist the pipe to line up with the header. One thing I did was not to use the 8mm bolts that were supplied but used 7/16" bolts. They are slightly bigger than the 10mm everyone else is using and helps center the pipes better.

Why are you "re adjusting" your headers? Leaks?

Yeah. My J-pipe to header flanges are off by like 1/8-1/4 off (bolted and torqued). If I rev the motor while standing over the front header banks, I smell exhaust...and I'm assuming that I should not be. lol The header-to-head bolts are all torqued/tightened to spec as well.

My headers came with a regular gasket for the cat connection. Should I use another crush gasket AND the regular gasket?

And I'll try those 7/16 bolts, thanks.

Depends. The gasket is there to fill the voids between the two mating surfaces. If it's tight and not leaking, you're good. If you tighten them too tight, you can warp the flanges and cause them to leak. If by regular gasket, you mean a flat, and not a ring type gasket, you might want to retorque it. The heat cycles tend to compress them and the nuts/bolts will to get loose.

And those 7/16 bolts I used, I had to use a round file to knock the burrs off inside of the holes. The bolts were so tight that only one would slide through before I cleaned up the holes.

I just wanted to chime in that I've had my headers since 2006, about 50,000 miles and no problems.

XS Power or should I say SS Auto Chrome is out of stock on these headers and won't reply to my emails asking when they will be in stock. Is this normal for them?

They haven't been in stock for about 2 years now so I wouldn't count on them returning. My guess is that they get so many emails asking about them they've just given up on replying. They never were ones to reply to emails to begin with.

They're shipping eBay generics now. They are not selling the actual XS-P headers anymore. You will be able to tell by looking for the 6speed bend in the rear header.

People have ordered, and they all just got generics.

Called it. GL trying to contact them. They run a business more shady than slim himself.

At best you'll get a refund, and you'll have to cover shipping costs back to them. They got banned from eBay, never respond to emails, and are giving out shitty generics. Why did you order from them? I guess you get what you pay for.

I have a claim in with Paypal. They have till the 12th to respond. I won't pay shipping on the way back. If they want them they can issue a pick up. No big deal I have a different set that look pretty nice.

I ordered them before I read all of the warnings. Oh well.

You can always set it up for cash on delivery when you send them back.

Nah. He can issue a pickup. His dime. My guess is that it will cost him more to do that than it is worth. I will mount them on the wall and make them a special douche bag trophy before I spend money to send them back.

Time has come.
Weld on the rear header at the flange has a leak. Breaking open my spare set of XS 6MT headers this week for replacement. Been in the unopened box for 3 years.
So that about 4 years & 55K miles on them. 1st was the flex pipe to go out, now the weld.
Not too bad for $290 when they were new.
