[QUOTE=Vidur Chengappa;14654542]No way. My first ticket too on Saturday driving to cars and coffee. Wrote me up for 5 over. Was doing 47 in a 35.
I was driving to work in American fork doing 40 in a 25, (which theres no speed limit sign on this road) so that sucked and he wrote me for 5 over. After he hands me the ticket he trys to have a conversation with me where I work haha, I just said I'm late and took off.

Still waiting for it to post. Hopefully shouldn't be too bad a ticket.

I'm not gonna talk about xxr's unless anyone really wants to know why they're sub standard. On the other hand TSW's make a similar design and look beautiful! Nurburgring RF's look sick!

Cast wheels that have material shaved off them to market them as lightweight wheels. They're just dangerous. Now lots of people vouch for them and thats great that they haven't failed but the reason why they keep costs down is because the skimp on R&D and copy designs without ensuring the cast structure can take the pressure.
Their wheels are gravity cast similar to our stock wheels but out stock wheels also weigh 25+pounds whereas XXR's, Rota's, Drag and the like all weight close to 16 pounds depending on the size. Less material with the same casting technology leads to weak unsafe wheels.
TSW wheels are rotary forged making them slightly strong than stock but they do not shave material off the wheels making it weigh as much as the stockies. Their wheels are also TUV approved. TUV approval is the hardest to achieve in the world and their wheels can be run on German roads.
Overall XXR, Rota's and Drag compromise on safety and lighten their wheels to the point of it being unsafe without forging them.
Also most people don't report failure of cheap wheels cause insurance pays out on them and talking about a modification that caused an accident will void your coverage. So people keep quiet about it. As far as being safe on the roads go airbags can only do so much. On the free way failures can be fatal.
If anyone wants sources and numbers I can get into the details some more.

16 lbs? I read a thread about a tl-s on here I thibk it was with either xxr 527s or 530s and weighed them at 23 almost 24 lbs if I'm not mistaken?
I got a set of 527s in a trade and they werent horrible. You obviously get what you pay for and I would not drag or track them continuously. But still great wheels.

Most people assume that racing is a lot of stress but driving on the street with potholes and undulations on the freeway at 65+ mph is what causes stress fractures and cracks. On the track most people dump the stuff from their cars and try to lighten it up as much as possible and in controlled conditions mechanical failure is not a big deal. On the road however its really bad.
On the street, not taking account the weight of fuel a car with 4 passengers and nothing in the trunk where the passengers weigh an average of 160 pounds add to a total weight of 4000+ pounds. That is a 1000 pounds on the tires and wheels. At 65 mph on the freeway with undulations being absorbed by the suspension you're still looking at an excess of 1000 pounds per wheel if it had 50/50 weight distribution. Hit a bump or drop and that weight can double really easily.
Those only take into account vertical weight on the rim. The other factor to consider is lateral stress from cornering. Think about a 4000 pound car taking a corner. The stress that each piece of the rim has to bear while being attached to the barrel. With improper R&D you end up with cracks at the point of attachment between the spokes and barrel.
Rims are equipment that people don't ever check on. Its something that no one should ever take for granted.
Its the same reason why steel braided brake lines work really well on tracked cars but on street cars would fail faster than the OEM rubber lines. More suspension articulation, more debris that could get into the braids etc.
The street is a more brutal place than a track could ever be whether you drive slow or fast!

I'll have to look into it and find out. All this crap is really weird. Based on what I heard it doesn't go to insurance but it does go on your record and stays there for a couple years and switching insurance can cause your rates to rise.

Ya I called the city and they said every year it cuts the points in half and after I think 3 years its off your record, but Im not sure about it going on my insurance which is what Im concerned about.

Lovely systems. I've seen people run reds and flip U turns where they're not supposed to but we get a little over zealous with our throttle on a straight clear road we get punished like we're sex offenders! :P

At first I thought he was going to pull me over for my license plate light is out. So I installed 2 LED bulbs right above the licence plate and ones gone out. Anyone know where I can get just one LED bulb?
#625
^No clue. Try Oznium for LED's or just type in the model of the LED in google. Should pull up something.
We need to meet soon before the weather goes south permanently. Any suggestions on a time?

Why don't we start throwing places and times out there, because this is going nowhere. Now, I think we should meet this Sunday or next Sunday, at 1:00pm in the same spot as Cars and Coffee. Again, I'm just randomly picking place and time because we're not making any progress.
