S/C E46 M3 VS Mustang GT
I just picked up a e46 m3 that was supercharged yesterday. I was doing some late night shopping when I ran into this white Mustang GT. It was an older body style maybe right around 2000. It had exhaust and probably full bolts ons, pulley, etc. Shit sounded like it was gonna fall apart hah..
So we are right next to each other going about 50ish. He is next to me and goes WOT without any warning. I immediately dropped it into 3rd and floor it. I catch up and pull on him immediately. I instantly pull a bus on him and shut it down right before I hit 100. I guess I must have embarassed him cause he slowed down and just did below the speed limit the rest of the time. Fun stuff. I really wanna take on a new 5.0 see how I do.

Congrats on the kill...
Butt, I dont even know if this story is worth sharing.
if not a '12+ 5.0 they are slow.
that includes sixes and eights.
Unless cammed and or F/I. and you can tell those cars because they dont sound like shit.
My little 3.2l vtec engine can keep up and sometimes even rape early mustang GT's

You're probably right. I just wanted to share my first kill in my new car. I'm not 100% sure but i'd say it was cammed, and a full catback. None the less, yea its not that impressive. But, like I said I just wanted to share my first kill

ehh just like you can't tell if the car has full bolt ons from just racing against it, you won't be able to tell what cams he is running either. If he jumped you and you pulled him by a bus length still, i'd say it was a 2000 GT w/ mild bolt ons at best. Anything more, cams/heads/intake/nitrous/fi would have no problem making 300+whp and wouldn't get pulled so easily.

you could be right. only reason I say that is cause my friend had a 2002gt cat delete cams pulley ,etc and they sounded the same.
i did go up against a boss 5.0 today. we both got off the line and i was in front a little ( i should of launched ). By the time we let off i was about half a car behind him. shit makes me wanna get headers and a pulley. plus i wish my car was a coupe cause that would shave off about 200-300 lbs.

On the sound thing Yonkers is right, no way to tell exactly what is in a car other than its not stock from hearing the noise it makes.
On a early lead from a standing start against a much stronger car. Personally I generally don't run against an overmatched car all that often but that being said I will generally just pace the slower car out of the hole & let the tires get a good grip before going WOT.
The biggest issue high power cars have on street tires is traction. At the strip most of the 335/135 guys running without slicks that have autos will start in second gear to keep the tires from burning up.
The best FBO are looking at 11.0 second 130+ mph runs. The best tune only are at 11.9 seconds 118mph. Listening to the cars there is not much difference except for the different intake sound the DCI intakes over the stock CAI system.

we were at a complete stop. his 5.0 wasnt stock either. i think i did fair and was happy with the results. i called the local shop about upgrading the supercharger to a stage2. i may look at doing that around Christmas time. It'll put me at about 525hp/320tq. I think i'll be happy when I hit that mark.
