Smile Tire Pressure and MPG on 2012 Acura TL

Hey All,
Just purchased my first Acura and am loving every minute of it. It is a black on black 2012 TL Advanced FWD. Was wondering what cold tire pressure is optimum for ride, performance and MPG? My computer reading is 38dr, 39pf, 37dr, 38pr cold. This is the way I received it from the dealership.
Second question: What MPG's do you get from your TL's. I just took a 700 mile trip in 100+ degree heat and got 27.2 mpg and it was still climbing. I have about 1200 miles on the Black Bullet(nick named) as of now. Thanks for your response!

I'm running the 19" wheels and associated tires, so my pressures may have no bearing but I run cold, 36 lbs all the way around. Just the right combination of ride and handling for me.

As far as mileage, I just turned 1000 miles and haven't really kept track.

I have been running 33psi with the 17 inch wheels. I love a soft quiet ride so I never go above 35psi. 600 miles now and I have an average of 20.7 the computer says. I don't really trust that computer but it has to be close. I only live 1.6 miles to work so that affects my mileage quite a bit.

I can get about 30 average on mixed highway driving - 70 - 75 mph. I generally run 37-38 cold - which heat up to about 40.

Interestingly enough - the HX MXM4 Michelin's on our 07 TL-S are nearly done at 21,000 miles. I've got 20k on the 09 AWD, and they look like they could go another 30.

I have about 2300 miles on my 2012 TL Tech and am averaging overall about 24.5 mpg. On a 1000 mile trip I averaged 30.6 MPG. I have chosen to stay with the 32 PSI recommended pressure on 17" tires for lack of a better number. I guess I trust Michelin for having a better guess(?) on inflation pressure based on load rating rather than ride quality and MPG.

Thanks all for your input. I let out about 4psi out of each tire cold and now am running 32psi in all tires cold per the manufacturer. I first noticed that I have almost no fwd steering torque which is great and am still gaining mpg. The ride is not as stiff as before in which I liked. I now have a more touring type vehicle that my wife likes. Again thanks!

I run 34 PSI all around. I have the 18" Tech wheels. Not sure of the MPG#'s but more air less rolling resistance but rougher ride. It all depends on what YOUR looking for.

I run the recommended 32 psi on my 09 sh-awd. The ride is very much on the rough side ( a characteristic of the suspension package on the sh-awd) so at 34+ psi it must really jolt the fillings out of your teeth.

i've got 800 miles on mine, and running 35 psi all the way around; ya its a little rough but thats how i like it coming from a bmw w/sport suspension so i feel at home. i'm also averaging a surprisingly good 23 mpg (calculated at the pump and on the onboard computer). this is all city driving but i do drive a constant 60 mph to work so thats probably the best gas mileage speed to be at (in 6th of course)

btw...that's great gas mileage. 20 mpg only with my city and freeway driving. bad!!!

[QUOTE=akiko2012;13054689 btw...that's great gas mileage. 20 mpg only with my city and freeway driving. bad!!![/QUOTE]

I use 34 PSI and find it just perfect for me. I must say that I am pretty amazed by your fuel economy! My best fuel economy on a recent trip (about 300 miles) was almost 35 MPG (6.8L/100km) but on average, I get about 27.5 MPG (8.5L/100km) which I would say is almost 50/50 highway and city. I have about 3000km on my 2012 SH-AWD (tech) and I am sure it will even get a bit better as I reach 8000-10000 km.

I love this car and the way it handles. I am getting one or two rattles but will wait a while before taking it to the dealer in case others develop. With the stereo, I can't hear anything so for now, I can live with this minor issue.

I will say that I love driving this car at night, I just love the lights in the cockpit! I know alot of people say that there are too many buttons in the TL but that is what I love unlike the bland interior of the BMWs

It's sad for me to see that many of you are getting the same (and in some cases, better) MPG than my '09 4 cyl TSX lol

Part of it is really my daily drive. Part if it is the manual all wheel drive. Part of it is me. Hehe. In the highway, i was able to get 24-25 mpg, which is the highest rated on the MT. Still I wish it was better but everything else about the car outweighs the mpg.

I get 29 mpg or so on my daily commute--17 miles each way, 6 stop signs and lights with the ac on and generally easy driving. I get low 30s on trips driving faster (70-75) but without stops. Stop and go in the city drops the mileage to about 20. Except for stop and go, the TL's mileage is more than 10% better than our 4 cyl. CRV.

Wow - I get about 18mpg according to the computer. But I drive 100% city, and when I do get on the highway I like to push it hard.

My 20's I have set to 37 cold, and they warm up to no more than 40 hot. My winters are 18" and I set them to OEM recommended 32 all the way around.

Smile 20 avg... not bad

My garage to ofc parking lot -- 100% city driving -- 8 miles -- 25 mins (sometimes 40 mins ) -- 4 stop signs -- 12 signals -- avg speed during office hrs < 25 mpg -- but surprisingly I'm getting 20 (though computer shows 20.6). Not too bad I guess

You have a similar commute as me. It's nice that you provided your MID's Average MPH value because that tells the story of your MPG. That 20 MPG is actually pretty impressive. I would say the 2012 does better than the others since it has the 6th gear that earlier models are lacking. I hear the FWD models also cut off fuel to 3 cylinders so you're not burning as much stopped at those lights. Without those two features, you would probably be at 18MPG.

Have 2012 TL Tech FWD. Standard wheels/tires. Monitor says 30 cold and 33 warm. Hwy driving between 70 and 80 mph using the cruise control nets right at 30 mpg. A/C on, it's still pretty warm here.

According to Motorweek's, tech ,Pat Goss, winter pressure should be +2, because the tire naturally, deflates, in cold weather.32PSI/Summer&spring; 34PSI/Fall & Winter. Cold inflation!
I have the Michelin 18", on my '12/TL/SHAWD/Tech

2011 Acura TL sh-awd

Have 19" Michelin PS2 pilot sport all seasons. I run 34 front, 33 back cold. Was doing 36 all the way around, but this new setting has improved the ride without any decrease in handling. Been doing it for about 2 months now, and no real difference in MPG. Still 25-26 highway, 18 around the city.

Have a '13 TL Advance FWD with 15K miles and I've owned it since it was brand new. Tires are set to 32-32.5 all the way around, when I am all highway at 70-75 the car gets 32-33 MPG and I'm running the OEM 18" wheels. I'm the city and around town I am around 20 MPG. Even more important the car just drives so smooth, plenty of power when needed and looks good...I LOVE my TL!
