Power Mirrors & Memory Seat Problem

Hello A-Ziners! My outside power mirrors on my 05 TL Nav are acting up. Not sure if it's the mirror switch or what. My power mirror controls only move the mirrors to the right or down. It does not move up or left. This happens on BOTH mirrors. Also, when switching the switch to the center position, the passenger mirror does not move down when reversing. I thought it was the switch, so I went out and bought another one from Ebay. Same thing happens! So I'm guessing it's not the switch.

Also, not sure this is relevant or not, but my memory seats stop working the same day the mirrors gone berserk. My car does not recognizes to adjust the driver's memory seat positions when driver One or Two is entering the car. My memory seats cannot be programed either. I've configured the driver settings on the dash, but that's only limited programing. I've tried searching around briefly but couldn't find anything useful. Can anyone please help?

thanks in advance.

Did you check fuses? If your windshield washer doesn't work or the green light on the rear view mirror won't light up, it's definitely a fuse.

No, I have not checked any fuses. I figured since the mirrors go right and down, then it should still be good. And yea, the windshield washer doesn't work OR that green light doesn't come on either. I'll check for fuses tomorrow. Crossing fingers.

It's fuse #20 in the under dash fuse box. There is a TSB to replace this fuse with a 10A fuse (originally 7.5A). Most of the time, the fuse blows when you try to spray water with a frozen line. The washer motor overloads the circuit.

Here's the link to the TSB:

OMG! It WAS the fuse! Of all things I shoulda known to check that first. Now that I recalled, it was snowing one day and I tried to use my windshield sprayer to get the ice off the windshield. Replaced it and everything worked perfectly now. Funny how one fuse controlled all those items. That completely threw me off. Thanks a lot for the help.

Now, Anyone want to buy a window switch?

Yep, Everything is working. Memory seats, power mirrors (all functions), & windshield wiper washer. I was about to blow a fuse myself when all these started failing at one time. (no pun intended) hahah

glad you solved it, but that is crazy that the mirrors worked in two out of four directions sure sounded like a switch problem to me as well. So are there two fuses for these devices? one for left and up? and one for right and down?

Are you sure you replaced fuse #20 and not some other fuse? It's in the center row, third fuse from the right.

And we're talking the fuses in the under dash fuse box, NOT the under hood fuse box

It's the only common denominator for seat memory, washer, side mirrors, and dimming rear view mirror light.

No, by "third from the right", I mean from the firewall.

There's a diagram on the back of the fuse box cover in case you haven't seen it. It's also on page 248 of the owner's manual. You need to replace it with a 10A fuse.

Glad you figured it out!

This forum is a wealth of info. Spend a little time reading and searching this forum and you'll be up to speed in no time. A read through of your owner's manual will help a lot as well. If you're going to be doing a lot of your own maintenance I highly recommend spending the $50 or so to purchase the service manual from helminc.com. Same goes for electrical mods: the ETS manual (Electrical Troubleshooting Manual).

Register your car at myacura.com and you will also have access to an online owner's manual.

OK, just realized something. I've found out what the problem was today. As I was cleaning the car, I realized that my rear passenger door does not lock with the remote OR using the front door lock controls. It was open the whole time! Kinda scary to think about cause we take this car everywhere. Grocery shopping, busy Holiday shopping at the mall, even at night she was parked outside. That door was never locked and there's no alarm. If you push the knob down, then it'll lock but power door locks won't pop it back up. I checked fuses and even open up the door panel to see what's going on but nothing. Do I need a new door lock actuator?

Thanks so much for this info!

I have the same problem with the mirrors only going 2 directions, seat memory not working, and dimming rearview not lighting up. I knew I should check here before paying someone too much money to figure it out for me. Picking up a fuse tomorrow! (I never realized how much I would come to rely on the seat memory!)

I'm having the same issue no and I see that it quite common. I know where to turn to get answers for my TL. wife was out in the car and noticed it so she's stopping to get fuses now. Fluid is full, but not squirting out and the mirrors work in only 2 of 4 directions like another member mentioned a few years back.

Better check that fuse replacement-- the OEM #20 was a 7.5A, which was to be replaced by a 10A per the TSB.

If you pulled a 20A to replace with a 10A, you probably pulled the wrong fuse.
Once you get to the 7.5A in the #20, pull it out and replace it with the 10A even if the 7.5A looks good.

I had a nice encounter with this problem this morning. Mirrors spazzed out, none of the memory buttons lit up / worked. Symptoms are exactly what others described. I spent some time reading up on the threads and had planned to pick up a 10A fuse after work.

The thing is...after work, I got into my TL and started it as normal. No spazzing mirrors. Hmm. Tried the windshield wipers. They worked. Pressed the memory buttons. They worked normally as well.

So...is the fuse not blown, then? Could it be due to the change in temperature? (It was 13 F in the morning. I believe it was 36 F when I left work in the afternoon.)

What say you?

Problem fixed!! was reading the fuse chart wrong and replaced the heated seat fuse instead..lol
When you slide the fusebox case or door off, flip it down under the fuses to get the correct reading. The pull arrow should be going to your left on the grey side.

Hey

My side mirrors always change direction on me, it moves The direction I want it to but when I turn my car off they face down, also if leave the little switch on left or right they move when I change from drive to reverse or park. Could that be a fuse problem also ??

^try putting the switch in the middle (neither mirror will tilt when in reverse). The mirrors will tilt (drivers or passenger which ever is selected) when put in reverse. It's so that you can see a curb, or parking line when backing up.

Also, you may need to reprogram memory controls for "driver 1" or "driver 2" remote keyfobs.......

Welcome to Azine!

TL 2005 power seats

I have tried the suggestion of replacing the 7.5 amp fuse with a 10amp fuse put I still cannot clear/change the memory on my power seats. Any other suggestions?

Kinda weird on my car, had the issue, went to replace the fuse and it's a 15A (and has never been replaced). The fuse appeared good, but when I replaced it with another 15A I had lying around, it fixed the problem. Weird that.
