Dashboard covers - which material suites our cars best

So I have a 2005 Acura TL and of course Acura wont dish out more than 50% coverage on the 1800 bill...so to hell with replacing the dash..im just going to cover it up.

I've found a website that has 4 different choices of material...I was wondering if you guys had any input on which brand may look best in the TL and perhaps which material looked the best, fit the best, and stood the test of time...

I guess any and all info about dash covers would be relevant for this thread.

I am going to make the jump to order the black suede and see how it fits. It appears that all dashcovers that come off this site are custom made to order. All we would have to do is fit the velcro tabs on and secure it to the dash.

03tLsNBP - The dash topper looks pretty nice too...but I still think I prefer the black suede for now. I will make sure to upload pics of the one I chose.

You guys can score an extra $7 (15%) off the order by using promo code: PBEB3

Shipping is free and my total went from $46 to $39. I believe I am also getting a free grip n go steering wheel cover valued at $7.

That actually is pretty good...did you go with the sedona or the brushed??!?!
I am going to return the vinyl repair kit I bought...I can already tell the cracks are getting bigger So it's either cover or replacement for me!

I went with the brushed and Main_shoby ordered the sedona. Will be interesting to see how each one looks on the car. My order shipped out last Thursday so I will be updating this soon hopefully.

Dude...I googled to see ANY in a TL...nothing!
I'm so happy to know you both got different ones. I was about to attempt the vinyl dash repair but I know it will still be obvious...in addition, it's cracked more and the repair will not keep it from getting worse. Seems to me these covers are the way to go. Just wish I knew which one I'd prefer...

Is Velour total crap? I am heavily leaning toward the sedona suede but want it to NOT look like a carpet on my dash as much as possible. I wish there was a cheaper fix that didn't involve covering.

Hmm...you're right, it will probably keep the car from ever needing it anyway, ironically.

At such a good price, it's cheaper than going and buying material and having to cover the dash completely.

I would like to see this as well since I developed 2 cracks this weekend and am now waiting for Acura to say "sorry man you're screwed," before ordering a cover

Well...they might say that you're only 1/2 screwed...but at $1500, even having to pay half of that for a problem that you did nothing to cause and tried really hard to stop...is being screwed.

Well I got it in last night...got home late and i only have an iphone 3 so I couldnt take pics. I work on a military base too so I cant upload pics til later. What I can do is give you a quick update on what I feel about the "brushed suede."

Pros - Looks pretty good, covers up my cracks, arrived pretty quick, doesnt cost much. Drove around with windows down to see if the wind would suck it out or push it around. It stayed in place without movement.

cons - they didnt cut out or add any holes for the center speakers so its covered up. The holes for the tweets dont exactly line up (gonna do some adjusting today to see if i can get it closer). The velcro they sent kind of sucks..doesnt stick very well to the dash so Im going to go get my own form of adhesive to make the fabric stick closer to the dash. Looks like the brushed is going to be hard to keep clean. I have a few threads that are sticking up right in the middle of it.

overall I would say that I am happy with the results, especially for what I paid.

On a scale of 1-10 I would rate this a 7.5. Pics will be posted later after I've done my adjusting. My rate may improve once I work out my small dislikes.

I did not receive a free grip n go steering cover. I am distraught.

Thank you for the quick and honest update, buddy!
I'm leaning toward Sedona but will wait for pictures. My center speaker is disconnected anyway so I'm not worried, plus, they say the sound travels through it supposedly. The tweeters I'll try and align...I'm hoping it doesn't look too cheesy!

Main_shoby or ThomasV, any pictures of your dash cover installed yet? The crack is driving me nuts and I'm just waiting on your pics to make a decision here finally. Thank you!

Hey guys...did a little digging from 03tls's post regarding this brand.

Watch the video, based on the slight complaints that Thomasv had about his from autoanything...I'm seriously considering going with this. A bit more at $70 but might be worth the price once you watch the video.

Decided that since the dash-topper is it's own manufacturer I'd rather deal directly with them...rather than a company selling someone else's product.

They have lifetime warranty on the topper and if you watch the video you'll see why supposedly they are superior to others, it also opens your eyes to a lot of quality downsides to other toppers. For 80 bucks...if this solves my problem, I'll be jumping for joy. I'll post of pictures of fitment and quality and seams etc for anyone else insterested. I went with Sedona suede in black. There's a fine line between tacky and nice and I'm hoping I'm making the right decision.

Rockstar,

Looking forward to those pics. Especially the perforated leather. Is your interior black?

Mine really needs help. It's looking like a puzzle! lol..

Sorry for the long wait to get these photos up. Crazy fuckin week for me. Anyway...heres what I got...please keep in mind that I havent had time yet to resituate the dash and add my extra velcro touches to get it to lay flatter over the dash cover...some of hte other shots show the dash cover a little wavy too but I still havent had the time to go in and tweek it just right. I have to recant one of my earlier statements about the "holes not lining up." Turns out I had not pushed the dash cover far enough back yet...I pushed it back far enough and the speaker i was referring to I think is for hte hands free on the right side of the dash. It does still suck that the center speaker is covered up but to be honest, it doesnt sound any different.

Im pretty happy with this dash cover and I have recieved several compliments on it. I would recommend this dash cover as an awesome bang for the buck...it really sets the car off nicely. Its hard to beat 39 bucks! Oh and i did get my steering wheel cover but uh...it will not be going on LOL
