'07 TL Power Mirror and Memory Seat Issues

Hey everyone, let me start out with saying I have search this already and the fix for the 05 TL is not the same as a 07-08 so please do not link it to this thread.

Now the issue:
Ever since it started getting cold I have noticed when I unlock and start my car one or both of my rear view mirrors will automatically adjust all the way up or down and pop until I hit the switch to stop them. Also I now notice that my memory seat function no longer works. The two things may be unrelated but I think they are connected. Also my seat will not adjust when I unlock with my remote or my fiancés.

The fuses are good, obviously because they are still getting power. There is not a 7.5 fuse in the number 20 spot under the dash as I stated above. Any help would be awesome!
Thank you!

I have the same problem.

I replaced the MSC under the driver seat that supposedly controls this stuff, and it didn't do anything, so its probably not that.

I never use the memory seats, or auto mirror tilt, so I never pursued it past that.

bad mirror actuators?

the mirrors and seat memory work off the same "circuit" if one of them goes bad it acts up.

OR the key fobs are not syncing to the car correctly.

That was my thought too but the mirrors only do it maybe 1 in 10 times. The seat memory does not work when you push the button inside too.

Does anyone know what fuse runs the memory seats?

i've been told by my dealer after my MDX went through 3 mirror motors already (1 driver's side and 2 passenger side)....that even if they start (read: occasional to intermittent) to act up the whole system gets goofy. and the button in the car doesn't work as well.

sadly even after 10 yrs of this annoying issue in Acura's....they still occur in the newer models. i had a loaner RLX....mirror actuator was starting to act up (7 month old car and about 9k miles on it). i told the dealer about it so they could fix it.

not sure on the fuse for the memory seats...who has a service manual?? chime in.

Update:
I disconnected the battery overnight on Saturday and the memory seats worked great all Sunday. My Fiance went to take the car to work this morning and the memory seats are not working again.

The mirror issue is gone and they work without a problem.

I know this is not a huge issue but I am not the type to let even little issues with my vehicles slide. Does anyone know of any fixes for this like the ones for the 04-06 model?

I ran into a few people claiming the mirror actuators can 'go bad' and cause the memory seats to have issues. It makes little sense the systems would be that connected, but its certainly possible.

I might throw new mirror actuators at it, since any feature not working bothers me. Even if I never use it. I never disconnected the battery. The car has been sitting a few months, maybe it fixed itself.

They are. When you unlock the vehicle it adjusts the mirrors and seats to the driver's specification(1 or 2).

Yeah, but it sounds silly they would be in 'series' effectively. If one of the mirror actuators has an issue the seat memory breaks too? I guess they counted on nothing breaking.

^^the mirror actuators go bad, break the circuit. it doesn't mean the memory seats are broken.

dealers kind of figured this stuff out the hard way. in the MDX the steering wheel is power telescoping which is linked to the memory seats and the mirrors. they tried "fix" the steering column/rack thinking that was the faulty part, but ultimately they found out the mirror actuator was the culprit.

comptech-i still say fix the mirror actuators. just b/c it's intermittent doesn't mean that all is well. it's up to you...

It depends what you consider broken. My seat memory buttons do nothing when pressed or held. They don't beep, the seats don't move. If I move the seat manually, it never ever moves with key 1 or 2. I'd consider that broken. Conveniently, my mirrors also don't recall position. If I put the car into reverse with a mirror selected, it goes down for as long as the car is in reverse and does not go back to the same spot.

One would think it's possible to have the memory mirrors just not work, and the remainder of the memory functions work as intended if a failure occurs. Not have the whole system fail if any piece has an issue.

Yes they all work togather on the mirro there is a lateral and vertical sensor that let the memo seats know how far up,down or in the mirro are if one of this sensor go bad the intire memo system Wong work.

I had the same issue with my car when I got it a week ago, it was below freezing last week and my mirrors were acting up just like yours, moving all the way up and getting "stuck". The memory seats were not working.

I unplugged and replugged the battery and cycled the mirrors to all four corners multiple times. I also sprayed in a bit of WD40 to help lube up the mechanism in the mirror housing. That seems to have fixed the issue for now, although I plan on pulling the mirror glass off when its warmer out to relube the actuator. When it's this cold out I'm afraid of cracking the plastic.

I suggest moving the mirrors around and trying to lubricate the actuator / mirror base.

I already pulled them apart and put some grease in there. Apparently these things are sensitive, and that surely didn't fix it.

I'll just get some new ones eventually. Probably at some point when it warms up, right now the car is stuck behind several feet of a snow/ice mountain.

Thank you everyone for the help!

The mirror actuator assm are cheap! I can get them locally at cost. Now here is a dumb question, I will need two correct? One for each side?

Also how do you pull the mirrors apart? I am nervous to just pull on the glass and break one.

Perfect, thank you!

I just got a call from my fiance that she went out to go to work today and the Acura is now dead. The battery was put in less then a month ago so I know that is not the issue... I am hoping it could be related to this mirror issue.

I am really starting to question the quality of Acura products... I have had this car for less then a year and have had way more issues then my 04 G35 coupe had in two. I am hoping its just due to the cold but it is getting old real quick. I see selling this car and going back to Infinity in my future! (End Rant)

The quality of all the ancillary components has definitely gone downhill. I've owned my '07 for less than 2 years and here are a list of component issues I've had:

-Upper Trans Mount and all 3 motor mounts torn @ 60k
-Motor Oil Pump Leak @ 70k
-Purge Control Solenoid failure @ 75k
-Starter failure @ 85k : did a partial rebuild
-Torn control arm bushings (all 6) @ 90k
-Starter failed again @ 95k and I did a full rebuild
-PS Pump leak from the main body @ 100k, rebuilt with all new seals. still makes noise.
-Driver-side Axle cracked in the winter @100k, replaced
-Positive end of battery cable broke apart near the starter from a weak cable-end. Replaced.
-Coil failure at 105k
-Taillight leak at 105k
-Valve Cover spark plug tube leak at 115k, causing a loose spark plug that I was unaware of for about 10k miles

Similar things are happening with mine.

I recently hit the unlock button to open a rear door and did not go in and start the car. Turns out the mirror was trying to find the stored position until the battery ran down...

I think I will be trying the mirror fix above because the issues here are identical to what ours is doing.

Update:
I replaced both mirror motors and the issue is fixed! Not only do the mirrors move a lot smoother, the memory seats not store like they should. Also the mirrors now tilt like they should for a curb view.

On a side note, i broke both motors pulling the glass off. So if your planning on trying to just lube them you might as well just replace them. They are cheap (35.00)!

Glad everything worked out. I may have to finally fix the ones on my TL. Upside is that I am the only driver so the memory seating and mirrors aren't really that big of an issue and I don't' use the reverse tilt function.

Yeah, if I was the only driver I think I still would have fixed it because the mirrors kept doing whatever they wanted. That and I cant stand when there is a single issue with my cars.

Just tried to do it myself to take the mirror off to lube up the actuator per that DIY, and what do you know, cracked the glass. that sucker was on there tight.

Might as well do both of them, so $40 per mirror and per actuator.... sigh.

I didnt crack my glass but I did break both motors when I tried pulling the glass off. For 35-40 per motor, you might as well just replace them instead of lube them.

I just recently discovered the same problem in my '05 TL. I already have a bad actuator in the passenger side mirror that I need to replace. Now, the driver's mirror is acting crazy where I can only adjust right and down. I discovered the memory seating isn't working as well. I just received a Chiltons manual in the mail yesterday so I'll be doing some homework today and let the 3GTL world know what I discover that's worthwhile...

There is really nothing to research... the motors need to be replaced to fix the issue.
