Theres a first time for everything right? Please read and advice me =/

whats going on guys. so last night i was in long island on the lie on my way back home with a couple other of my friends. I'm sure you can already start to assume what is to happen next....blue and red lights flashing behind me. i've never been pulled over before and my last name paul walker so instead of trying to evade the cops i pulled over. Turns out i was "going" 130 mph when i get clocked. i don't really thin this was accurate, although i do admit i was going over the speed limit. i mean it was 3am on a wide open high way. my question to you guys who are most definitely more knowledgeable than i am is what should i do? I'm facing i believe is 11 points on my license which is serious shit...idk how i can try avoiding this. i know people will recommend a lawyer, but what good is the lawyer in getting me out of such a serious violation of speed? like what can he/she say that will possibly get me out. i've read and know there certain things you can do like request the radar's last inspection or w.e but I'm like really stressed over this .. i NEED my car and license to work and get to school, and lawyer fees+violation and court fees + college student = FML... i was planning on getting the apse kit next week too so if you've been nice enough to read through this please enlighten me with anything, from experience, etc. recommendations, advice...ANYTHING .. thanks guys

I think thats Automatic suspension, reckless driving, who knows how many points, Driver assessment annually for # of years, insurance increase... thats a hell of a mess you in. If this is your first violation and your only 20, the lawyer can show you as a "good" student who just messed up and they might reduce the fine to something you can still drive with. MAX fine + Lawyer +points still driving is better than max fine no lawyer no license plus points...

I got this from Jeff (Blue tsx)
http://www.ticket-problems.com/pages/about.html

thats who he used and he had a few tickets 75-50-55 reduced to fail to signal type of tickets... 130 in a 55 is a big one but i'd try everything possible to not be fully charged with that one..

i Just got a 82 in a 50 as well the other day and ima call up that lawyer to see what they say. Mine was in the BX and i have a clean record (9 years driving)

Alex is probably making reference to my lawyer. I like you years ago, was going very fast (100 in a 55) at 5am because the roads seemed clear, he got it reduced to 66/55. PSm inc, send him a text or give him a call.

Keep postponing it as long as you can. Like someone said points stay on ur record for 18mo (although I think it's longer than than...check w the lawyer dude) hopefully u can postpone it long enough that you'll b close enough for the points to drop. As far as insurance...???

^^

Doesn't work that way. You can attempt to avoid suspension (from accumulation of points) by spreading out convictions but DMV posts the points from the date you were ticketed and A lot of INS companies from the date you are convicted. You're F'd either way, but it's best to postpone it in hopes the officer won't show, which is rare.

You think you were going 130? You have a 3G TL? I am sure it maxes out 130 LOL.

We need more info from you. What kind of cop pulled you over? What did he get you with? Laser or Radar? If its laser you are SOL because laser is accurate and unlike radar you can't really "argue" about a laser ticket.

My friend was recently pulled over on southern state parkway. She was going 120 and to make matters worse was racing two other people.....never race 335is when you have a 328xi lol anyway. She was clocked at 120....but the cop (trooper) that pulled her over dropped it to 96. She also got a ticket for tints, no plate, and no signal. She is in the same postion as you, she can and will lose her license if she does not hire a lawyer.

What you need to do is hire a lawyer ASAP. Don't even think about fighting this alone. I am surprised the cop did not impound your car.....going 100+ is considered reckless driving which is a criminal offense. Whatever you do, its going to cost you lots of money. Hiring a lawyer is your best bet. Give Carrie Solages a call 1.516.362.1113. He helped my friend out with a street racing ticket and just helped get his girlfriends speeding ticket dropped. Tell him David with the Subaru sent you.

I got a ticket in September on the taconic state parkway for 83/55. 6 points. Still have to go to court but I just kept delaying it. Most likely they will drop it but lets see.

Invest in a radar. I have been encountering more and more cops as the weather gets warmer. Just today I happened to get a PIG in action. I was on this long empty road where the limit is 30. People usually do 60+. My radar started alerting me and I see this guy hiding all blacked out. I popped a uturn and was going to record his hiding spot when he nailed a guy. Enjoy watching it.

wow that radar thing is cool, so exactly how does t work? and as for radar or laser, to be honest with you I'm not sure, didn't ask. this is my first time experiencing being pulled over to be honest. and yea I'm sure i wasn't doing 130. i was driving with 4 other guys (2 civic si'd, an mustang, and an orange 350z) and of course the 350z got pulled over. we BOTH got clocked at supposedly 130 which is bizarre imo that both of us were going the exact same speed when he was at least 200 feet behind me

It sucks but I'll be upfront with you and say your likely screwed financially or in terms of a suspended license, speeding in the 5 boroughs or the island just isn't worth it. 31+ over is automatic reckless driving and a court appearance....was it in nassau or suffolk?

PM me, I have a very good lawyer that works in Nassau county but it will be expensive and if he clocked you at anything >100 your F'ed even with a lawyer. If it was just observed speed, you might have a shot.

130mph

Get a lawyer. The point of one in this case isnt to have the ticket dismissed (because it wont be), but to drop it down to a lesser, more manageable offence. Youre still screwed though.

130mph is tough to play off with the "open, empty road" defense. Thats twice the speed limit on the LIE. Its reckless driving. If you get a good lawyer and get a nice judge, you may get to keep your license. But no matter what, its going to cost you a lot.

I hate to be the honest bearer of bad news but, lawyer or no lawyer, you're in for one rude awakening! Take it from one who knows, speed can be thrilling but it can also be costly! When I was driving during my senior year of high school and all of college, I racked up 28 points in five years. Insurance was quoted at $5000 for six months. Drove without it and had a couple run ins with some vehicles. It was a fun but ugly time in New Jersey.

Any mods you wanted to do or anything like that, consider them lost in the wind. Your funds are going to be rapidly depleted but you should be happy that you have money to pay with.

Not sure about New York, but here in NJ we have an insurance scheme that sucks more money out of you if you accrue six points or more in two years. I've been on that list regularly ($150/year for 3 years). Let us all know what happens. GOOD LUCK! I mean that sincerely. I couldn't stand to be in your shoes, it'd rattle me horribly.

NYC has something similar, not sure if it applies to Nassau or Suffolk though...called "driver responsibility" and they make you pay $300 a year I believe for 2 years if you rack up more than 6 points in a year.

OP you got PM. Honestly, none of us are going to be able to tell you what your facing. I'd say your lucky he didn't arrest you. Speak to one of the lawyers we recommended you and they'll be able to better advise you. All we can tell you is that it is going to be expensive. A regular 3-6 point ticket ranges from $250-500 depending on the court it is in.

Infamous, you could argue the 5% error in the laser/radar. Has worked for me in the past and got a 4 point down to 2 which I brought down to 0 with the defensive driver thing you can now take, not sure if that's still valid though. I don't speed anymore to say the least

^ Thanks... Its my first NYC Speeding ticket ever and i've been driving 9 years so i hope nothing big comes from it. I will call both lawyers tomorrow and see what they say. I even told the cop i thought i was doing around 70 cuz the idiots in front of me were going too slow hence i was 5-7 seconds ahead of the pack and he said if it was 70, he wouldn't have stopped me..

to chime in. if this is your first ticket you may plead to unsafe driving. your allowed 3 in 5 years(maybe u can use all 3 for this ticket.lol) im not sure how much that will do, but once the judge sees over 100 mph hes not going to feel any sympathy. technically you could have been arrested at those speeds. For insurance, you can take the driving class, take off 2 pts and take a slight % off of insurance. hes not going to clean your slate, but def get a lawyer. im sure they will drop some of the bs tickets like the failure to turn. the cop def gave u every ticket he could. Shit at that speed you should have just kept going.lol.. good luck.

^ thats what i thought... For a cop to stop both you and the 350 and you were 200 feet ahead means you really slowed down... You dont need to be faster than the cop.. Just faster than the idiots behind you.. You were already going 130... Should've kept going until you saw if he stopped for the 350 or if he continued chasing you. and he had a mustang and 2 more civics to stop before getting to you..

Yea the shit is I was up front and the cop came directly after me and was not budging the 350 was probably the last one I don't get it. A friend of mine recommended a lawyer that works at the DMV in Whitestone and he told me there's not a great chane at winning this thy what he'll try to do is adjourn it twice and then he can transfer the cad where in queens where he knows a judge. Have me pleas guilty but I keep my license and pay the charges + keep the points. I'm so stressed with this and everything that's going on with me I'm just like drake "YOLO" only thing keeping my head up but thanks guys. You don't understand how grateful I am for your inputs. Deff lesson learned and thank god this happened to me right after income taxes.
