Stupid orange NY plates... and no front license plate
I thought they had discontinued those orange plates because everyone hated them, I just found out those are the only ones you can get... blah.
Does anyone here drive without the front-plate? Gotten pulled over or anything for it?... "sorry officer, it must have fallen off..."

Every 10 years NY redesign changes design/color of license plates. There reason is because the the old one becomes faded and makes it hard for police to see it at night. It is also a good way for the State to bring in revenue.

i have yet to see a faded plate. my 2002 jeep liberty, which has been through hell, the plates look fine and are still reflective.
OP
last year, my front plate was stolen when i was in at a movie theater in queens, it was held on by zip ties. i went to my local precinct and filled a report that they have been lost, to be stolen you need to find tools, or bolts that prove it was stolen.
i had the report with me for 2 months and i got pulled over and show it to the cop and said ive been so busy and i havent had time to go to the dmv and spend hours there and ruin my day. he laughed and said try to get it done soon and walked away.
now a days, i drive around with the orange plates on my front seat lol. its gunna kill me to put them on

The State Department of Motor Vehicles says, "Periodically re-issuing plates is important for overall safety, law enforcement and the general integrity of the plate."

Do u really believe that? That article has no significance to me because its posted by the dmv! Do u really think they will admit the sole reason for new plates is revenue, of course not. U need to think outside the box, and my personal opinion is the blue and white are more reflective

I really liked the liberty plates and I gotta say, the yellow plates started growing on me. They dont look so bad on a white car, and they should look decent on your blue TLS. Of course, no where near how the previous white and blue plates look.

My father has his original plates on his '94 Subaru. That car's been through hell and back... no problem with reflections.
It's just a BS way for getting $$. You're required to renew your plates :\

Btw if it was such a safety hazard why would it not be mandatory for everyone to get new plates. U can keep the empire plates forever as along as u keep the car and or transfer it to another car

120m is not pocket change, it will pay for 2400 new state troopers at 50k per trooper, which I believe they start at 44k and top out at 78k

No. You will be allowed to keep your current plates when you renew your registration.

any NEW car or NEW registration, not a renewal, you will get the orange plates since they dont make the blue and white anymore

aslong as the registration stays in the original persons name, the blue/white plates are good.
the thing im not sure about is transfers, i have my car in my dads name with personalized plates, in august im going to put it into my name and hopefully keep the same personalized plate and my 1 blue and white plate

and the best i can say for those plates doing that, is a really high pressure pressure washer, or some type of acid washing solutions, or something along those lines
cause it is only like one vehicle/plate, out of how many do you see on the roads? so it does not happen very often at all
