NY Tint Question
NY Tint Question
I know this might seem a silly question but I just want to ask before I get a ticket. I found a site that says NY tints on front and rear sides can be70%. If I am reading this right, if i get 40% or 50% on fron/rear I can get a ticket?

The front windows have to be less than 70%.
40-50% on front is more than 70% and thus is illegal. Will it get you in trouble - probably not, as 50% is barely noticeable.
For the rear windows, you should be able to get any darkness. According to Vehicle and Traffic Law § 375 12-a there is an excemption to rear window tint percentage if you have rear view mirrors:
"(4) the rear window of which is composed of, covered by or treated with any material which has a light transmittance of less than seventy percent. A rear window may have a light transmittance of less than seventy percent if the vehicle is equipped with side mirrors on both sides of the vehicle so adjusted that the driver thereof shall have a clear and full view of the road and condition of traffic behind such vehicle."
