But I guess if she doesn't wanna play, she'd get an S4 w/ a warrantee.

But she wants a G coupe...... so it doesn't matter.

Stock...? Really...?

Most times have the current gen RL clocked at 6.5-7s on a 0-60 sprint. The G35 has been known to hit sub-6 seconds.

Don't believe me...? http://www.insideline.com/infiniti/g...g35-sport.html

Sorry, I call BS on your claim unless your car is not stock. The RL is heavier because of the AWD drivetrain.

well...I'm only talking about the G35's I've pwned...and I can't even say I tried very hard. I count at least 4 pathetic attempts.

My car is practically stock, all I have is a SRI and a UR pulley. I doubt I hit sub 6s with those mods even though my GT Timer did blimp 5.9 once...could never repeat it and that was before mods. Probably downhill or something.

not sure why you said that considering the G posts significantly better 1/4 mile and skidpad numbers. even the 5AT is faster.

Well, the G35 driver was likely a bad one...

I'm no brand defender but, there is not one car (other than the NSX which is gone) currently in the Acura fleet that is faster than the Infiniti G cars.

And that's not a criticism. I don't believe the track time is what Acura is truly after anyhow.

Do we need another race? Handling wise, the RL's weight is against it. Sure, you can bring up SH-AWD but on a track the nimbleness of RWD will allow a driver to direct the car better. As for acceleration...

http://www.insideline.com/acura/rl/2...full-test.html

But the feeling of quick acceleration isn't supported by the test track numbers, where the 2009 Acura RL recorded a 0-60-mph time of 7.2 seconds (6.8 seconds with 1 foot of rollout like on a drag strip), and 15.3 seconds at 92.8 mph for the quarter-mile. For comparison, the 2009 Hyundai Genesis V6 accelerates to 60 mph in 6.3 seconds (6.1 seconds with 1 foot of rollout like on a drag strip) and does the quarter-mile in 14.6 seconds at 95.6 mph.
Handling from the same article:

The 2009 Acura RL seems as if it has a fairly neutral balance in the corners during normal driving, and feels quicker than its weight and size would suggest, but it does understeer as you push harder. At the track, the RL posts a very good slalom run of 64.1 mph, although it doesn't really like quick transitions. Our test driver found it best to enter the slalom at moderate speed and then gradually apply more throttle through to the finish. The RL posts a respectable 0.82g on the skid pad.
Wiki:

...a previous model 2005 G35 6MT sedan reached 0-60 mph in 5.7 seconds and the 1/4 mile in 14.1 seconds.
That's the sedan.

On a 2003 G35 Coupe automatic:

Luckily, the G35's bark is backed up with sufficient bite. Acceleration is brisk and responsive in almost all rev ranges, and the 3.5-liter V6 is undoubtedly one of the most refined power plants on the market. While there is plenty of power at lower rpm, the engine still provides a real surge at 3,000 rpm and above. The G35 gets from 0-60 mph slightly quicker by switching the traction control off and utilizing the manual mode of the five-speed automatic — it's also more fun. Sixty mph comes up at just over six seconds from a standstill; that's faster than the 225-hp Audi TT, and BMW 330i. Drop the G35 from fourth to third and stomp the gas, and the car lurches forward like a sprinter racing for an unseen finish line. This is truly a thrilling car to drive.
0-60 mph (sec.) 6.2
1/4-mile (sec. @ mph) 14.66 @ 98.32
Close (still loses), but I wouldn't say pwns it at all.

I'm referring to the older 3.5 G35 auto coupes pushing 280hp not the 306hp or the manual ones...

and I had 4 different G35 coupes to compare against not just 1.

Yep...so, as much as I believe 037's claim he has beaten a G35, I do not believe the RL is faster than the car overall.

He likely ran into a very bad driver.

Well, dunno what to say, dude...the auto G35s are still faster than the RL. Less weight. Law of physics.

how about 2006 TL? I owned the RL and TL at the same time for a few weeks. I have taken the RL against the TL a few times, RL driven by my brother. TL lost every time. Didn't matter if it had a jump off the light or not, by 40mph the RL was gone. I remember smacking down a few G35's in my TL days as well.

Nis, as far as handling tests, those are done with POS Pilot HX MXM4 tires. Those grip nothing.

4G TL weighing same as RL with same engine and running PS2's does skidpad at 0.94g

so with half decent UHP tires I'm pretty sure I can hit .88g no problem and next summer PS2's just might be my choice of wheels.

2005 G35...Auto version is clocked at around 6.2s in the 0-60 sprint.

http://consumerguideauto.howstuffwor...niti-g35-1.htm

And 037, I am not surprised the TL loses in a foot-race to the RL.

I'll bring my laptop. lol. Bring your camera.

And as for the tires, tires will obviously make a difference in handling. But putting PS2's on my Accord won't make it out handle a TL, even with my coilovers and an RSB.

if I'm lucky I'll have a 70-200 2.8 is ii tomorrow. That'd make for a good video lens.

god leo, you post this sht up every time you are in here. im only going to post this once because you are very stubborn and refuse to believe that your car can be beaten by a less expensive car. your car does not pwn g35's, not even the 280 hp ones - IT GETS PWNED BY THEM. your 1/4 mile is significantly slower and your skidpad is significantly lower. i personally could care less about street racing - neither cars or anything to brag about except for those that want an ego boost. however, i do care when people post up wrong information. maybe you beat some g35's on the road, maybe you didnt. fact remains that this does not reflect the reality of the situation. maybe they are bad drivers, maybe they had a ton of stuff in the trunk (literally a ton), or maybe they werent even trying. get down from your high horse. you can now tell me about how your escort told you that your car is super fast and that you just beat a g37 the other day. i wont listen. k thankx bye.

Steve, appreciate your comments. What you forget is how cars get tested. Most of the time they are brake torqued to hell, something you don't generally see on the street.

Please note what I post is not meant specifically for you so feel free to ignore it all together and don't get so personally offended.

As far as funny wins...I smacked down an S500 once. I actually stopped to ask the guy what was wrong with his car...

Can't forget the 2009 Maxima. We battled it out at 2 stop lights and I have no idea why he was slower...I really thought the Maxima was faster than that. But then the guy delcared he had AWD too and I left it alone.

I don't know if I'm going to keep it, but I'm definitely gonna get some play time in. Should be a fairly cheap

if I do like it I will get rid of the 70-300 DO and 50mm 1.4 as well as the tripod.

Cheap? Um, if that's cheap for you....

Anyway, why would you get rid of the 50mm f/1.4? Might as well keep it. The 70-300 I can understand.
