need some legal advice for NY State NOW!
Hopefully someone who reads this will send me to the right place if this isn't it.
Here's my situation. A salesman from a very reputable dealership which got all 5 stars sent me a quote in an email last Saturday night. It was a price that was 2K less than any other dealer. (It was on a 2012 tsx wagon with tech package)
I got other quotes on Monday and realized that his quote was the best. He asked me which color. I chose it. Asked for a purchase agreement and he sent it via PDF. It has the VIN etc. on it. All well and good. The day after I had to call him twice about financing etc. which I know I'm qualified for. He told me it wouldn't be a problem. That he would call the insurance company as well.
I'm supposed to pick the car up tomorrow. (the dealer is 33 miles from me). I knew the salesman would be off today, so I emailed him and asked how the check should be made out and did the financing come through. He did not respond.
I called the insurance company and they had not heard from him although they said that wasn't unusual.
Today I called the dealership because I was getting nervous. Sales manager is out. I was sent to the finance guy who wasn't in. I left him a voicemail. No response. I called back two hours later. According to the receptionist who put me on hold, he had just walked back in and was aware of my message and would call me back in a short time. That was two hours ago.
So... Is the purchase agreement binding? I have financing available from PenFed and can bring a cashier's check. But I'm without a car. Feeling totally lost about what to do next. Should I just drive over there? Call again? I definitely feel as if I'm getting the runaround, but maybe I'm just being paranoid.
Sorry for the ramblings. Any help/thoughts appreciated.
