Mechanic

Im in need of a good mechanic in the morris county, nj area. I need to replace my shocks and struts and also i think the ebrake line is punctured since it doesn't work. I'm also getting some creaking from the rear driver side when I get in and out of the car...I'm not a big dude and I don't think its bc of the cold weather. Can anyone recommend a reasonable place? Thanks.

I doubt your shocks/struts need to be replaced (assuming you have a 3G??). I'm at 107K and mine are still fine

...and your p-brake is not hydraulic, so it's not a punctured line. The p-brake probably just need to be adjusted. You can do it yourself. There are a few threads with the SM scans. Do a search for "p-brake" or "parking brake".

I'm approaching 103K miles right now on my 05TL. Any idea what could be causing that creaking if its not the shocks/ struts? The mechanic that changed my brakes mentioned to me that they looked like they needed replacement and that was ~5K miles ago. He's also the one that suggested a leak in the e-brake line. Not completely confident with him so im looking for an alternative.

Hehe, a mechanic who thinks your p-brake has a leak?? Guess you have your answer...time for another mechanic.

Also, how do shocks/struts "look" when they need replacing? Unless they're leaking, there's no way to tell by just looking at them....

We'll dont quote on which had the leak...Maybe I misunderstood what he was referring to. But he def did say suttin was leaking and he also mentioned suttin about the ebrake which made sense bc the ebrake wasn't working properly. But like i said im not completely confident with him doing the work if it needs to be changed.
