J.V. Auto Glass
I was driving on a parkway today when a chuck of ice the size of an iceberg hit the passenger side of my windshield and created an 18" crack. It scared the bejesus out of me, and I'm lucky I didn't lose control of the car! The impact was so hard my rearview mirror flattened down.
My car is a 2004 with over 220K miles on it and I'm planning on trading it in for a TLX, so I don't want to spend a lot to replace the glass. My deductible is $500 so I'm not filing a claim. I got a quote from J.V. Auto Glass for $204. Has anyone ever used them, or any other recommendations in the NYC area?

I'm in Colorado but I got a replacement windshield for $168 installed. The guy came to my house. I have an 08 with acoustic glass and I understand that there are only 2 options for windshield replacement...OEM or Soundmaster...I choose the latter to save significant $$$.

Everything is more expensive in NYC, but I thought I was quoted a fair price by JV.
GEICO quoted $300 to have Safelite do the replacement.
That price is not bad. I had a place in jamaica queens do my windshield for $195. The molding around my windshield dont have that "tight fit" anymore (to be expected) but I'm not experiencing any water leakage or unusual wind noise.
BTW I had an AP Tech windshield put in, they make OEM windshields for Honda/Acura. The model # next to the VIN matched my outgoing windshield so I am pleased with that. The boss did my windshield replacement and he's an honest dude. Would recommend this place.
