Have anyone had run ins with the cops for noise/mod violations

I was reading NJ's laws and it's very clear that no modification to noise and/or emissions equipment are allowed. It carries a $3,000 fine, and the part in question must be replaced within 90 days. I was just wondered has anyone actually had a problem with this?

You mean like engine braking under a bridge or train ? I've been stopped for doing that once under a bridge and once under the train; the sound in intoxicating. Nothing a PBA couldn't get me out of though

$3,000?! That is absurd.

I feel like people drive around with music louder than the average aftermarket exhaust anyway..

NJ laws are backwards sometimes, to hand out a penalty that could be that harsh, for such a petty thing? Yet more serious offenses are less? Mindboggling

NJ is pretty rough. When I lived in rural NC you could do whatever you want to.

Its the whole perception of it, they see modded cars as people up to no good for some reason

2 months ago me and my friends got pulled, and the officers asked me why my exhaust was so loud? My response was "because this is a type s" lmaoo she completely bought it and let us go.

If you are going to rev/make noise make sure the coast is clear. If you get caught doing something red handed, you asked for it, pay the piper. Moving violations are moving violations.

I get pulled over all the time. And not for moving violations but vehicle equipment crap. Cops hate modded cars, they always stare me down and/or tail me and I just keep driving along minding my business. They look at you like you are more apt to start trouble, but I drive pretty reasonable. Luckily I talk my way out the majority of the time with no ticket. Just be calm and polite. If you are doing nothing wrong, you have nothing to be guilty of. HAHA! Yeah, I've used that "Type-S" excuse MANY times about the exhaust, it works, lol. Pull out a pic on your phone of a Type-S with quads.

NJ cops are the WORST. I am telling you, they will pull you over faster than you can think. Stay away from Pallisades Pkwy. The limit is 50mph on purpose, it is impossible to go slower than 60. The place is crawling with troopers. They will sit even with radar OFF looking for anyone with no front plate/tint/seatbelt/cell phone use. I've been pulled over 7 times within 1.5yrs. I can't even go down that highway, they all know me. I take 9W. Not ONCE for a moving violation/speeding/unsafe driving! Bastards, plain and simple.

I'd say Nassau county cops in LI are 2nd worse. If you are on Jericho Tpke/Hempstead Tpke/Old Country Rd. after 10PM on weekends you WILL be pulled over! They assume you're a young guy by looking at your car and if you got a car full of people they bank on a DUI. Watch out they troll up and down constantly! I've been pulled over 50% of the time I've driven out there on weekends.

Drive a stock TL and you will be fine. Hooked up cars are a cop magnet. It's the price of modding, there's no way around it.

About a month ago I got pulled over in the Bronx on Westchester and Southern Blvd. As I was making a right turn down the street, the corner of my eye caught the cop turn his lights on just to back outta traffic. He followed me for about a block until we got to a hill. I tried keeping the exhaust tone down the whole time but I needed to step on it a bit more just to get moving. Pulled me over gave me a court date and just waiting on that.....

Best part is He told my nice Type S.....(look at the sig) lol

Fuk! You just reminded me that I missed my court date for my loud exhaust summons.

SHIIIIIT !! Brooklyn Cops are the worst...

A Dick Head Cop pulled me over for my loud exhaust and said to me "I have the same car as you and let me tell you the stock exhaust sounds better" and gave me a summons...

Asshole!
