I am riding South riding from Seattle to San Mateo next month.

Should I detour on 205 or continue straight S on I-5?

205 looks like a longer loop but I-5 is straight. I will most likely be riding through about 9:30am.

 

That depends on a million bajillion things.

If you don't plan on stopping in town, just stick with 205...newer freeway, wider and less stressful, especially if you're on your motorcycle. I-5 through City Center is a winding, narrow little bastard of a freeway that I dislike in my car. Bon voyage.

depends on if the bridge is up on I-5 205 gets bottle necked in oregon city area and Foster rd area.. and I-5 bottle necks at the bridge and again where the rose garden exit is..
