I'm considering moving up to SF area for work and just wanted to get some suggestions on housing. I don't wan't to spend too much for something in the city, but do want to live in a nearby city that will allow decent access to the Embarcadero area.

Something in the area of <$1,200 for a studio (or one bedroom, if I'm lucky) will be great. Commuting time less than an hour would also be awesome.

Can anyone suggest a city for me to look around?

 

for that price, look up daly city or pacifica. its around your price range. might even be possible to find a one br. last place i lived in went for 1300 (1 br). should be around 10-15 min w/o traffic

 

You can find a Jr. One Bedroom or in-law unit for under $1200 in San Francisco.

I pay $900 for such a thing and I have my own door, washing machine, etc.

Definitely possible.

I don't care to live in Daly City or Pacifica.

 

You could even find a 1 bedroom in the outer Sunset/Richmond neighborhoods for that price point.
