RE030 really that bad????
RE030 really that bad????
I heard some good and bad review of RE 030 tires, they are extremely cheap. $220 for 4 on tirerack. I notice they came stock with our TLs.....(back in the days) Most people say they are too noisy, however traction is decent. The car currently is equipped with Michelin Pilot (from previous owner). What difference should I expect if I switch to RE 030?
I am not a 24/7 spirited driver, i prefer to have the tires that can get me through corners/enter or exit the highway turns with less braking. I am also looking at Continental DW tires, a friend told them they are great. I don't have to deal with snow so that's not a concern. I drive less than 6 miles a day cuz my work is less than 3 miles away from me.
Anyway I have a 05 TL Auto. any comment is appreciated, the price of RE030 is what really caught my attention!

It's an okay tire. They're $220 for a set of 4 because TireRack's blowing them out since they're being discontinued.
The Continental ExtremeContact DW's are much better tires, especially if you're looking to get "through corners/enter or exit the highway turns with less braking." They have much better dry and wet grip. Yes, they're like double the price of the RE030's but they'll also last longer too... probably twice as long if not more.

It was the 235/45R17 version that was on clearance for $55. All they have left now is the 235/45ZR17 version which are $212 because of the higher speed rating. Maybe the OP bought the $55 ones?
Slightly better than the Michelin Pilot HX MXM4, but not the Michelin Primacy MXM4. The Primacy's are much better than the RE030's.
