integra vs. cl?
I've got to buy a car for my daily commute (80 miles/day) and want something fun, but under $6000. I like the Integra and CL (and also the Accords) and they seem to get good gas mileage (I need to get 30 mpg freeway) but have read that the CL's and Accords in my price range have a serious transmission problem. Are the later Integras (say 1998 - 2000) good cars, or do they also have tranny or similar problems? I wish I could afford a TSX or 2005+ Cl, but they are out of my price range.
Thanks for any ideas.

CL isnt very good for commuting nice car but not good for commuting.. Have to use Prem gas and with gas prices rising I dont suggest you buy a CL for commute.
no CL and TL have tranny problems havent really heard of the accord having alot of problems like the TL/CL
Integra more likely to get jacked good MPG but there a top car to get jacked if u park outside with no alarm sorry to say but you more than likely to get your car stolen

used to own an integra. wanted to rip my hair out after the first year. but then again it all depends. just make sure whatever car you get that you have it properly checked out even if it costs money. you will save in the long run.

If you want to commute, any CL is better than an Integra. Integra is a great car but its loud/buzzy at highway speed. At 65-70 the CL is at 3000rpm while the integas B18 is at 4000-4500rpm. If you want something civil yet a tad fun, get a 98-99 CL 5speed. That way no worry about the automatics unreliability. The 0-60 time for CL 5 spd is 7.7sec. It also has a lot more torque and doesn't have to be "rung out" to get to speed which saves gas. It's a rare find but will be easier to live with.

Thanks for all the input. I'm now looking for a 98-99 5 speed per Para's suggestion, but I keep seeing 2003 type S models with the six speed that look VERY sexy. If I can find a low mileage 98-99 I'll probably buy it.
If I can't find one, I might have to take the hit on lower gas mileage and paying for premium gas and get a newer type S with the six speed and have a lot more fun!
