Driving lowered in San Francisco (The City)

I'm thinking of lowering my car about an inch. But i go into the city (San Francisco) quite often. I want to see what other people out there are experiencing driving in the city and all through the hills. How low you are dropped? Do you scrape? What did you use to drop your ride... Coilovers or springs? Just want some I site in this before I go spending money and time. Thanks!

this is in the wrong section so hopefully it'll be moved to the norcal section but i've been there many times.
i'm on form function type-1 coilovers, i'm dropped at about 2 inches in the front and 1.5 in the rear. driving is no problem around the city but i have scraped the plastic piece ( the piece which guides air toward the engine bay ) from the underbody from those massive hills. the beginning of the steep hill is where you'll scrape but its only for a second.
if i had a chance to go back, i would have bought BC Racing coils just because from what ive read and heard, they have better comfort during your drives

i believe a mod will probably see the post and have it moved to the correct section.

good luck with your suspension mod if that's the route you want to take. i read your profile and it says you have 2 kids so comfort might be key to you as well so research around for coils that have great comfort while driving.

It's really not as bad to drive lowered. I scraped everywhere in the TL.

Moved to Nor Cal

My theory about driving lowered is that when you scrape it actually sounds worse than what it really is unless you're plowing into a curb. I remember driving over a speed bump and my exhaust scraped a little and this woman on the sidewalk gasped for air when it happened

I remember thinking the same....I actually stopped the car and got out cuz I thought the front fell off.. Then I finally realized what was actually scraping. I know downtown isn't that bad...like Huystar said but it's the hills I'm worried about.

for the hills though, the part that scrapes is the plastic air guide piece. i vote to lower the car!

I drove my 2" lowered Integra there a few times. Just gotta remember to slow down anticipating the scrapes and take them at an angle without scaring the cars next to you.
