Whats up azine? Been ghost reading this forum for ~6 months or so and finally decided to make an account and say hey. Proud owner of a NBP UA7 6MT and have plans for it but mostly wanting to keep it as clean as possible. Looking forward to getting advice/ giving advice and doing my part to contribute to the community.
EVERYONE knows the Egg shaped Civic Si as the EP3. No one calls it the Egg thing that preceeded the Fit.
I find that car enthusiast know the chassis code to their car...i dont think it has to do with euro, jdm, or american people... it's just basic knowledge for car enthusiast to know.

any car enthusiast would obviously be aware of their chassis code, my point is that in the USA for example people tend to call cars by their generation. 3rd gen TL, for example, 5th gen Prelude. Britain often prefers "marks", "Mark II" or just MKII. In my country we tend to call cars by their chassis code, the generation designation is kinda rare. Nobody says "fifth gen Prelude", it's usually BB6 (BB5, BB7, BB8, BB9, you didn't get most of them - they're the ones with the shite engines). Although it's a different story with Accords and Civics for some reason, people commonly refer to them as "seventh gen Accord" or "fifth gen Civic".

It's not uncommon indeed, and that's not what I said. It's just that I haven't really seen people referring to TL's on this forum by their chassis code - 2nd gen TL is usually exactly that, not UA5.
^there's a whole UA7 club thread...

Yes there is
and it's called "Third Generation TL (2004-2008)"
and it's called "Third Generation TL (2004-2008)"
And you're switching the point of your message for I don't really know what reason. First it was about knowing the chassic code, now all of a sudden we're talking about people using it. Your point being what exactly?
the third generation TL encapsulates both the UA6 and UA7..
the 2nd generation encapsulates both the UA4 and UA5
the 4th gen TL encapsulates both UA8 and UA9
Sure thing, I'm not telling people what they should and shouldn't call their cars, just making an observation. For some reason you seem to be trying to drive a point across, relentlessly and slightly aggressively, hopefully I'm just misunderstanding you.
not trying to be aggressive...
the chassis code is in the VIN number...
ALL you have to do is look at the vin number to figure out the chassis code.. and for an enthusiast, that's something COOL to know...
it's not neccessarily a Euro thing.. it's an enthusiast thing. to KNOW your car.
