Love this site it is chalked full of great info, for sure. Just bought my son a very nice 2002 Acura TL S. Good maintenance records, looks great and drove beautifully however a month later the trans died. Kiss of death codes P1740 and P0740. SO here I am joining this great site to learn what I need to do and how to do it. 2006-7 Accord V6 swap is in my future.

Hello fellow members,

I'm hoping to be a new owner to Acura soon. I've got my eyes on the 07-08 TL Type-S with manual gear box (I just absolutely love the look of that car). I'm looking to get one soon, but just wondering what I should be looking out for during time of purchase. I know the used car market is ridiculous right now and I'm not looking to over spend too much, but I do realize that I will be paying a premium for this particular car. I'm just excited to get one!

A little about myself: I've owned 20+ vehicles in my life, including motorcycles. I love anything with wheels. I have never owned an Acura though. I've had a Honda (civic), but never a proper Acura.

I do have another question.... What are the similarities between the Honda Accord and Acura TLs? I'll search the other threads for power upgrades and available swaps, but just curious what the 07-08 TL Type-S is comparable to.
