NC- 2008 TSX White

Hello,

I am a new member on the forum. Just bought a 2008 Acura TSX Base, AT, with 107k miles about 2 months ago. Car has been great but I have taken care of issues that have come up. These issues were new front rotors, calipers, pads, and stainless steel lines. I have also put new alternator, new belt, and new belt tensioner pulley. And of course an oil change within a week of buying it.

Is there anything I need to be on the lookout for concerning this car. Like recalls, common things to upgrade, ECU problems, transmission upgrades, etc.?

I look forward to learning more about this car and daily driving it for a very long time.

Welcome to Acurazine. What other cars have you owned before? What made you consider the TSX as your current vehicle?

I had a navi 06 TSX with Aspec. Purchased new it new and handed it down to the kid for his first H.S. & college car starting in 2014. It was totaled at +176,000 miles because of a red light runner in 2019. It was in excellent running condition and would be on the road today if it wasn't totaled. I had normal wear/tear issues like 2 alternators, A/C compressor, P/S pump leak, replaced P/S rack, front passenger upper control arm, aftermarket endlinks/rear adjustable camber kit (lowered with Aspec suspension). I would double-check the spare donut tire because most need to be replaced before the 10 year mark. TPMS sensors batteries can start to go out around +/- 10 years if original. I would also do an alignment to double check normal wear/tear of suspension parts (I had lifetime alignment with Firestone).

My first car given to me at 16 was a 1991 Honda Accord single cam. Drove that to 253k miles and sold it to my dad's coworker who continued to drive it for a few years. Second car was a 1990 Nissan 240sx that I took drifitng. The first car that I really learned mechanic stuff. I upgraded suspension, clutch, differential, complete interior, etc. Next car was a 2005 Altima given to me by my mom around 2012. I drove the Altima since then until I bought the Acura. The Altima was bought new by my parents in late 2004 and made it to 276k miles and then I had to replace the head gasket. Car ran great afterward but had starting issues when hot so that is when I decided to look for another car and decided on the Acura.

The things that made me fall on the TSX as my next car was mainly the Honda reliability. I had experience doing somewhat major engine work with the Altima and did NOT want to do that anytime soon on the next car. As I have learned more about the TSX, I have grown a big fondness for this car and want to upgrade it in many ways.

Funny you mention the alignment cause I have definitely felt it needs one. Pulls lightly to the left. I really enjoy the car. I do wish it was a manual transmission though. I was thinking of buying a crappy MT TSX and swapping the transmission into mine. Sounds easy but I have read the firewalls are different and the labor required is more than usual on AT to MT swaps.
Thank you for the maintenance suggestions.
