How times change

Well, I guess we're thinking of getting another car.

Gone are the wild days when my wife worked in Torrance... hint, hint! and we got like two new cars every year, when we replaced our cars before we had to replace the windshield wipers...

The COVID thing saw us start working from home, plus the kids growing up, saw our need for constant car reshuffling end... at the time we had the Passport Elite AWD, a 18 Civic couple, Clarity FCEV and Clarity PHEV.

What? No Acuras? WTH happened to the guy who got an '86 Integra LS the within a week of Acura starting to sell cars in NA? The GSR, The RSX-S, three fine TSX sport wagons, three TL, two CL, TLX SH-AWD, three RDXs, etc..

Well, for one thing AHM kept pissing us off. The Sport Wagons never offered SH-AWD, neither did the RDX. The MDX was just not for us and the woman with the shoe fetish really hosed up the TL. Yuck.

And then the Honda iMMD hybrids and the FCEV sort of changed our view of the World. We got taken by the deep down torque and instant throttle response of the EV.... We actually test drove the Clarity BEV was having to charge the battery made no sense.

And then VTM4i started be more like SH-AWD (specially after the original full time SH-AWD with a planetary gear set gave way to the cheaper, clutch driven, part time rear drive version 2 ).

We got to try the AHM sponsored test drives of the MDX, TLX (with SH-AWD) and the new Integras (Auto and MT6). They told us to put the big cars in Sport II, which we obliged, quite well knowing what that meant. Wife and I were some of the fastest in SH-AWD. We would have been much faster in the MT'd Integra if we had had one more go around after getting used to the clutch...

The Integra with the MT6 was awesome and really fun. But the LSD is doesn't cut it when you've lived with SH-AWD and ATTS (Prelude SH). It just feels too ON/OFF (like our Civic Si).

The MDX was a complete hoot, just punch it, click, click, brakes, click, punch it, click, apex, PUNCH IT, click.... rinse and repeat.

The TSX was even more fun.

So now we're down to '18 Civic Coupe (CVT), '19 Passport AWD (VTM4i), and '24 Accord Touring Sedan (iMMD). Our cars have really low miles because we're putting like 8,000 miles a year, or less... assuming we go on long drive trips (last three years we've been taking long vacations overseas so the longest drive our cars see is the 50 miles from home to LAX.).

However, the Civic just got 100K miles (daughter drives it) so we're thinking of a replacement. Also the Passport is getting long in the tooth and the new one looks nice.

So, we're thinking... perhaps an Integra 5 door for the daughter? She want the stick shift, but I think the CVT might make more sense.
Wife wants a CRV hybrid AWD.
I think I'd like a new Passport top of the line with VTM4i.

The ADX is a surprise... is that based on the Fit/HRV? Or the Civic? If so, what's the deal with the RDX? That used to be a CRV offshoot which is why they didn't offer SH-AWD.

Ideally, I want a hybrid SH-AWD.. as in iMMD meets SH-AWD in something the size of Passport.

But, I'm not willing to pay the premium for Acura anymore, because, IMHO, the Honda brand did up its ante in the 2010s. And I love the interior dash design that Honda is doing nowadays.

We'll see.
