Hello community and hello freedom

Hello to everyone. Alittle bit about me... so.. I was in the honda acura scene before I went to prison. Now that I'm out, I just got me a 06 Acura TL base w/navi. Man... have things changed!! Everything is all electronics and it seems like everything i have to do, I have to tap into the obd2 port and do this and that. So I figured that I could get some help from this community by learning from you all. Other than that, I stay in san diego, ca. I work as a journeyman welder.dont go out much because probation. But yea..I love my TL! The only thing I hate about it is whenever I plus in the obd reader, I get codes! But runs like a champ.

Glad you're out in the free world.
assuming you went in before the widespread use of OBDII circa 1996, you're used to old skool big bodies!
kinda interested in what big bodies you had in the past! I'm in Houston and we love our chevys down here.

Depending on what kind of OBDII reader you have, you can reset the codes...
Dont be scared of the OBDII reader/computer... it's an awesome tool in your ever growing tool box.

it will let you know what is going on with the car without you ever having to guess...because the computer tells you what is wrong.
on that note; what codes are you getting?
and you shouldnt be throwing codes all the time...if you are...SOMETHING IS WRONG! This is the part where you rely on your old skool training and actually troubleshoot.
so, what are the codes that are being thrown?

Getting "body codes"?? And thank you.. feels good at times to be out, but I find myself at times where I asked my PO to send me back..man. its hard out here. People bump into you, walk next to you. Its hard adjusting. But again, thank you. And the codes:
b1005
B1006
B1007
B1008
B1010
B1011
B1800
B1837
And also, I did delete the codes, but when I plug the obd reader in after a couple of days, these codes still pop up. I have the Autel MAXIAP AP200. It the wireless thing that connects to my phone. I find that this scanner didn't really do much, if it does, maybe I need to learn more about it and my phone. But reading forums from this community has helped me so much when my vsa and /!\ came on and I couldn't reset it with this scanner. And from reading about these body codes, most members have changed their MICU and that worked for them... but if anyone has any suggestions, please let me know

oh man, it must be hard to adjust on the outside. keep it together and keep it cool and you'll be alright!

correct; so these body codes are electrical codes.
Maybe replacing the MICU will fix the issues...this is where troubleshooting skills come into play..
if you have a multimeter to read voltages, maybe you can figure out where the short or problem may lie.

it may be a door sensor, it may be a trunk actuator, it may be any one of those body codes listed...you or someone will have to troubleshoot to find the faulty electrical component by using a multimeter.
this troubleshooting step relates to back in the day...it's no different than finding a short in electrical components be it a car, a house, an A/C unit...anything electrical that you may have had back in the day...
if your electrical skills arent up to par, perhaps letting a seasoned electrician/mechanic take a look at it.

Yup.. thats on my list for my Christmas break then.. thanks.. also... I wanted to ask... do you think it would benefit me to get one of these bi-directional scan tool? Its like $1200.. since my PO doesn't let me go anywhere but walmart and work, im able to save. And being in prison. You learn to save.. so most of my money goes into the TL. I just put in the K%N cold air intake and changed the oil and cabin filter. This weekend I will be doing the transmission fluid drain and fill and spark plugs and ignition coils. All OEM. I ordered the Navtool and have the backup cam... but its been 3 weeks and nothing yet! But I can't wait to put that in. Im looking to get a system and alarm, but the website says that self install CANNOT be done?? What's up with that??? And the vendors they recommend want $1100 for the viper alarm with remote start. Hell, ill put my money elsewhere in the car.

Awesome man, I just got an 06 TL too, no navi. Never went to jail but it still feels like new freedom to me having had no car for the last 3 years! Its interesting what you said about adjusting to the outside. All I can say is that being out in public or just interacting with people makes a lot of us anxious, but the important thing to remember is that most people are hung up on silly, petty things and one of the keys to happiness is to let stink faces roll off your back - people don't really know you, most are just afraid that you're judging them for their own strange issues anyway.

But in any case.. What color is yours? Mine is Satin Silver! I'm replacing the stock plugs too. I would look into the PCV valve if you're over 75k, its a $20 part thats an easy replacement and from what I understand it regulates oil in the rest of the engine so its good value to replace it.

Finally man, look up "Mods Forever" on youtube. That guy has dozens of DIY videos specifically on the 3G TL
