Displaced Michigander

Grew up in the Motor city and have always enjoyed cars starting with a Simca back around 1964 that I purchased for $100. Drove it home with one hand out the door holding up the entire exhaust system, then once that was reconnected, took white adhesive tape and created a double stripe from bumper to bumper. I thought I was very cool wearing my french beret while I drove my buddies back and forth to Lawrence Tech. Following the Simca came a '59 black Ford that was formerly a police detective's ride, rusted out to provide a better view of the undercarriage. This was followed by a Volkswagen convertible that leaked water through the wood molding around the back into the car to where the floor rusted through, providing one with a great view of the pavement beneath.

then came the muscle cars, at least I thought they packed the muscle to peel off at the stop lights, the sports car era of MGB-GT, MGA and a Porsche 914. there were more cars than I can count leading up to an '09 BMW 328xi coupe that taught me the true meaning of both what I can do on a track and what the car is capable of doing. The car was just too stiff for pleasurable rides with my wife, so I found a 2005 Mercedes S430, a Barco lounger of a car that was beginning to rack up the miles, so I finally found my current 2006 Acura RL that is sporty, quiet yet very powerful and handsome. So far, I'm satisfied with my RL and the help I've already received from the forums. Greetings from a Minnesotan.

Welcome! That's quite the range of vehicles you've owned. Sounds like your the type of person who keeps up to date on their tetanus shots.

Up until this post, I wasn't aware of Simca. But I looked it up and, uh, it is quite, umm... interesting.

Hope you enjoy your RL, I never cared much for that car until recently and now I think it's quite the attractive ride. I'd take that model over the new RLX any day.

Happy motoring!
