2001 3.2TL Transmission problems HELP!!!
Hi all!
I have a 2001 3.2TL that the transmission went at about 3 years (about 30,000 miles on it). The dealer rebuilt it (under warrantee). Then it went again about 2 and a half years ago and the dealer would not honor it (out of warrantee and charged me $175 diagnostic charge) but they wanted over $6000 to rebuild. I thought that was highway robbery so I took it to a local shop who has been in business over 50 years who "rebuilt" it for $2600. Well now it just went again (300 miles away from home)
The trans started slipping in first, second and third, and the TCO light came on as did the D5 light was flashing. Somehow I was able to gently get it into 5th and made it home. Went back to local trans guy who rebuilt it again (this time for $1700 CASH). This was yesterday. Today, car doing exact same thing. Slipping in 1, 2nd & 3rd with TCO light on as well as the D5 light.
My question is, do you think local guy just switched something on it or do you think it was rebuilt? I think I got ripped off. I'm bring it back today to have them take a look. In my opinion, this shouldn't have exact same issue if they completely rebuilt it.
Any opinions?
Thanks!
